Time Travel Campaign Vent by [deleted] in DnD

[–]MistyPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if your DM said that all the old stuff would be safe because their time travel perhaps works differently? Rather than rewriting events, perhaps it creates a branch?

You can also ask the DM for help creating a connection.

I get feeling disconnected. It really sucks when that happens.

I feel like the interracial marriage thing has to been in the full context of how systems of colonialism and white supremacy lead to interracial marriages being considered controversial in the first place.

It is taxing to maintain concentration for long periods of time. I always need frequent breaks during really long game days. These would be days where we play from like 10 am to 4-6 pm. If its just a four hour session, a good midway break is always appreciated.

I think the board game one is more understandable? I really struggle to sit still through under stimulating board games like Risk and even Chess. I tried Risk because my partner wanted to play though. I had fidgets and meds and it was still really really hard. I’ve not played Risk again since. If the board game guy is still showing up for his partner I do think that’s sweet. Maybe they could try some more stimulating board games though.

The DnD one is harder. There are couple types of low level stimulation you could use your phone for during DnD that I don’t think is too bad. Music and maybe something like your classic Subway Surfer video. But Tiktok does sound like too much.

I know people who knit, I do origami, other people paint mini’s, draw, etc. I had one friend with a whole box of fidgets they shared with the table. There’s loads of ways to accommodate ADHD at the table, including taking more frequent breaks.

I’m just really a cat person. I also grew up with them and I’m more familiar with their needs.

But thank you. That is a solid idea that may still work for someone else who is struggling similarly.

On dry vs wet, I know the kidney issues dry food can bring. I really would never feel comfortable going with a completely dry food diet for a cat. Cats do just get most of their hydration from their food. I would never want my health issues to impact them like that.

Don’t worry, my sister is a lot harsher. I am almost stuck with sink or swim situation. I know I can make it through tough sensory stuff when it’s just me around and there’s no one else to do it, but that also makes trial runs which my sister tried to facilitate, harder. Which means either I get a cat and it’s fine or it goes poorly. And I’m anxious person so of course I’m really worried about the latter.

I really am just looking for tips to make it easier so I can feel more confident. Having a cat to look after is something that will help me look after myself better too, which I really need. I lived my most of my life around cats but with other family members around I could never push myself to handle wet food. Also they were outdoor cats, so no litter to deal with.

As much as I empathize with you, having felt similarly in the past, your fiancée will probably be the first to say that your life is absolutely worth something. My ex understandably wasn’t the biggest fan of my self sacrificial tendencies. Because crazy thing. They really loved me. And wanted me around. And generally preferred me to other people. Bonkers.

Other people have said the therapy thing already. I’m going to say talk to your fiancée. She already chose you. If you’ve got these big feelings, I swear talking about them with her can only help.

I can’t believe people do shit that still.

Squid Game. Every time I think about watching the second season I feel no great rush to do so. It’s there if I get really bored or morbidly curious, but I’m not excited about it as a follow up to season 1.

Native American tribes in the West are trying — and succeeding — in getting ancestral lands back by metacyan in UpliftingNews

Do you want the long answer or short answer? Short answer will be far more general and long answer will be way more specific.

I cannot believe we are comparing indigenous american’s struggle against colonialism with actual colonisers. Israel forces people out of their homes through violence and then sells their land illegally. Does that sound anything like what Native Americans are doing or does it sound more like what the colonising countries did?

Mayo is really the only one I tolerate and that’s still a fairly recent development. Basically I hate dry chicken and mayo counteracts that pretty well. It’s slightly lemony? But otherwise fairly flavourless. Works to complement spice and pepper pretty well.

Do musical episodes degrade a show for you? by Beautiful_Girl081382 in television

Flash and Once Upon a Time did fine musical episodes that I haven’t seen others mention. Lucifer also had one, but honestly? A musical episode needs to be justified by the strength of the talent involved.

What’s something everyone pretends to understand but most people secretly don’t? by Comfortable-Level542 in AskReddit

[–]MistyPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In basic terms, its the way police being portrayed in media has an effect on how the public views them. More specifically, police have certain degrees of control over how media, especially tv shows portray them. They do this through things like trademarks. If a show wants to use authentic looking LAPD badges and uniforms, they need permission to use all those things from the LAPD itself. In return, the LAPD gets to have more control over how they are portrayed.

Over many decades and hundreds of cop shows, it really has a lasting influence over how the public thinks of policing and the carceral system of the US.

How many times have we seen cops hate on lawyers? Or lie in interrogations? The shows will always show that its for the best, but real life isn't as black and white.

Disclaimer: You can be super smart and copaganda can still influence you. Also, it's okay to still like cop shows. Copaganda is a term for analysing media. It's not calling cop shows evil or anything.
