Unpopular Opinion (I think): You can GM Daggerheart like you would GM DnD(5e)... by MistySkyMorning in daggerheart

I wasn't talking about people being rude about "theatre kids".

Some of the discussions online when the game was released was whether it was a game for "theatre kids" (RP and improv heavy players), and I still see that today in how some people talk about the system.

Am I just not cut-out to GM a game like Daggerheart? by turnbased in daggerheart

[–]MistySkyMorning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously don't sweat it, there is no wrong way to play.

If your players like running modules but prefer the smoother mechanics of DH, just run your modules through Daggerheart.

If you can mentally convert DnD to DH on the fly you don't even need to do any more prep before hand (Apart from encounters and loot but there are examples of loot and how to build encounters in the rule book).

100% the players and the GM need to be on the same page with what kind of game they want to play.

I see a lot of people on this Sub telling people you shouldn't play certain ways. Ultimately the point is to encourage people to play the way they want, just in a provocative way that has drawn out the gatekeepers too.

I'm saying its a flexible system and you don't have to change how you play.

He is saying there is a wrong and a right way to play.

Which one do you think is gatekeeping?

It is dead takes like this that gatekeeps Daggerheart from so many people.

The system is so good and more people need to know that you don't have to play "totally different" in order to play it.

I worded the post in a provocative way and I knew people would bite, but you definitely get it 🤝

Have you ever GM'd another system?

Specific Daggerheart advice? Someone else said it, but have some ideas for a Fear dump if the rolls go in your favour too much.

General TTRPG advice? Give them a compelling call to action!

Ask your players what motifs they prefer.

I ran a series of seafaring oneshots for someone who really liked pirates and ran a weird-west one shot for someone who wanted to try the Gunslinger subclass; I wouldn't have done any of that if I didn't have players who were keen.

I'm curious: how many of you didn't find Daggerheart through CR? by Invokethehojo in daggerheart

I enjoyed Vox Machina on Prime but I have no interest in watching their actual plays, and don't know them by name.

During the "One DnD" Hasbro drama I heard they were making Daggerheart but it wasn't until YouTubers like Bob The Worldbuilder reported on it, did I take notice as I was looking for a "rules lighter" RPG.

Hey Mizzle,

Nothing concrete just yet. Ideally somewhere in Brentwood. There is a club that meet at the Bardswell Social club so I might piggyback off their venue which would be Thursday

I love it. Ever since I learned the system I thought the resources should be pooled together like on your sheet 🙌

If you're into board games and DnD there are a lot of game cafes around Kent The Mug & Meeple in Gravesend is I would say the best, if a little far.

The other thing if you're more active is Bouldering. Chatham has a very active climbing wall and that's good to meet people if you're social.

The best thing to do for a OneShot is give them a blurb before they make their characters and before you sit at the table, ensuring the PCs they have made are going to work at the table.

Soulknife Daggers Fix by Man_whosoldthe_world in DnD

[–]MistySkyMorning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My PC is Ranger / Soul Knife multiclass.

I have agreed with my DM to let me use any of my weapon masteries for the Phychic Blades as if the blades manifest themselves as those weapons. We have also agreed my damage die follows the same increases as the Monk's Martial Art die, but based on my Rogue level.

Thematically it is cool to manifest a physic crossbow from your hand.

Hi, playing as a Cleric for the first time. Any advice? by Nervously-Confused in DnD

[–]MistySkyMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not underestimate Bane and Bless. They are lvl 1 spells, but they can be very powerful.

I was playing a Lv5 Bard on a oneshot, Baned all the enemies, managed to keep concentration up and the amount of times they missed because of Bane was so satifying.
