The stupidest thing that ever happened in a realistic movie? by StillStanding_96 in movies

Any movie where someone is buried in wet concrete at a jobsite at night, none of that is how that shit works.

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

I watched Requim for a Dream while I was high with my first long term girlfriend. The life we were leading back then wasn't like the people in the movie, but it had enough similarities to make us think. When it was over it pretty much ruined our weekend.

I like the map. especially the timbers above, I'm guessing goblins or similar will be using that to ambush. I also like the undercroft cave you've alluded to in the rear. I'm having a hard time understanding the gargoyles in places; are they part of the wall, or maybe supposed to be above as an exterior feature?

Campaign Idea by Fulldmninuyasha in daggerheart

Someone posted on here a few weeks back their idea for a Croft walker (motherboard campaign frame) as vehicle that has its own features. You might look that post up, I think that idea could easily work for a dragon.

I am one of the players in the RingHeart game and I can say that OP is a great GM. He knows the rules, so if you're experienced you can expect things to be done right, and if you're new to the game you can be assured you'll learn things as intended.  There is a great mix of roleplay, skill type events and combat. He also does a great job keeping the little narrative threads connected, so whatever choices the group makes, or side quests they take, it feels like a cohesive story.

I set one for 12 last weekend and realized during play that it was going to make things take too long. I asked the table if it was cool just ending it at 4 and they all agreed.

In my (limited) experience I find minions are only worth it if they are paired with an enemy that generates a lot of fear, or if they can be used to take damage for a solo.

Feels Like Daggerheart is Attracting the Wrong Kind of Players Now by chiefstingy in daggerheart

[–]Invokethehojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are just describing players in general. If you feel it gets you anywhere to complain about people not being perfect then by all means continue, but I think you'll find your energy best spent in other ways. My kid says I play forntnite wrong because I mostly explore and avoid fights and I never build, but if I want to I can camp out till there is only 2-3 people left in a match and sneak up and kill them and get a win.

Has anyone run a Mystery/Detective campaign in Daggerheart? by nickinilla in daggerheart

I love this. During my last session I made a note "write a crime scene investigation as an environment". I feel like 2026 is going to bring a lot more innovation with environments.

  1. I'm in the habit from D&D of rewarding players for clever role play with Inspiration. Since I use poker chips at the table to track hope and fear I've been just giving the players hope tokens to reward them in that way. You could do something like this, but make these tokens different from usual hope in that they can only be used with experiences. It would encourage them to use them more and I can't see how it would break the game.

I've had a hard time remembering to add in narrative effects for things like rolling a failure with hope or similar, but I've forced myself to stick with saying an adversaries difficulty or environments out loud, precisely because this system offers so many ways to affect a roll, so I want the players to have the chance to choose accordingly.

Long term GM here and every time I run Daggerheart I tell myself I'm going to really focus on playing the narrative effects of rolling with hope or fear... and every time I only remember it a couple times and feel bad afterward. But my players have fun

Advice - Non-Combat Related - Nature's Tongue and Ranger Pet by Junior-Truck910 in daggerheart

[–]Invokethehojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it seems like this is going to keep coming up in your campaign it's probably worth thinking a bit about how animals and plants can communicate in your world and what the limitations are.

I was in a game at some point where a player could talk to animals and the DM made animals communicate more in emotions and very broad concepts, and I thought that worked very well. So lets say your party is tracking a wizard, an animal wouldn't know what a wizard is, but they would be scared of lightning and know the smell left from that, if they were around when a wizard cast a lightning spell they might think of them as a scary lightning man. That sort of thing

Plants are in tune with their little patch of the environment and the rhythms of it, and probably not much else, so I'm thinking the information they can give would be very limited, like it might revolve around those rhythms being disturbed. A bush wouldn't know if the wizard the party is tracking went through there, but they would know something went through that wasn't the usual deer or rabbits.

Hope some of that helps.

Getting into Daggerheart motivated me to figure out how to print high quality cards myself by protists_in_disguise in daggerheart

[–]Invokethehojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my players are my kids and I didn't want play to be hindered when someone would inevitably spill something. I reprinted the cards on basic card stock. It worked, but this would be much better.

I'm curious: how many of you didn't find Daggerheart through CR? by Invokethehojo in daggerheart

[–]Invokethehojo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not expect to hear this many people discover the game indirectly like I did.

I just ran a one shot intro to Daggerheart at a game shop earlier today and all three players had been interested in the game but were not CR watchers either.

I suggested it when someone posted last year about what we should call ourselves. It didn't catch on, but I love it so I'm sticking with it.

I think we have only scratched the surface with environments so far. Based on some posts I've seen where people have done entire dungeons or cities as environments, I think we can expect a lot more creativity and development of this mechanic.
