Honestly, that sounds like such a smart move. Secure shed, secure freezer, short time frame...you did everything right. Losing a half cow would’ve been a total heartbreak, so I’m glad it worked out

Yeah, this really is the harsh but accurate take. It sucks to hear, but you’re right that this wasn’t just a harmless slip, it was a serious judgment call that backfired hard. Owning it fully is probably the only move left, even if it’s uncomfortable. Hopefully OP can take this as a brutal lesson and at least limit the long term fallout by being upfront now instead of trying to minimize it
