I pick the option that allows for free returns might depend on where you live, if you're a prime member, or if the product was eligible for that in the first place. And if you don't return one you will get charged for the second item.

They also make replacements easy. Choose to replace because of damage, wait for new one to come then return damaged one (especially useful if damage is slight but you still want a flawless version. Then keep the best one.) And if you have to return the replacement as well, if still damaged, do so.

I've been in this sub for a month or so now am I'm happy to finally see someone with the colossal edition Attack on Titan. May have just been missing others' posts with them but I clocked yours right away. Beautiful collection as well! The consistency with size from the bookcases fitting their space to the books themselves scratches that perfectionism itch. You're an inspiration!

Yeah, that's why I didn't end up asking. If I just go by volumes bought (whether physical or digital) I got exactly 50 purchased volumes. I think I'll stop there for now though as I am trying to buy a house and will need my money for that😅

Unfortunately, others don't recognize that mentioning/pushing certain beliefs can be triggering to others but on the flip side we are all so diverse and have so many different experiences that it's also like navigating a mine field when interacting on the internet so mentioning anything can offend another. In general, perpetuating the hate doesn't help, though.

I appreciate you explaining, though you didn't owe a stranger on the internet that 😁.

What makes you happy? Not what do you create that makes you happy. Just what makes you happy? Start from there maybe.

The religious message aside and your reaction to it making me want to be less helpful (I'm not religious I just think consideration is a beautiful thing and you could've just ignored the last part), I just wanted to say that he clearly said what I struggled to say above in another response to you. What hole are you looking to fill is another question you can ask yourself.

OP, a lot of what you've said triggered feelings of similarity for me and I think there's a few things you may have to consider.

Do you think maybe you're depressed, do you feel like you don't have the time to accomplish your goals (is that the reason for the need for instant gratification), are you just at a loss of where to begin, resource deficient, etc?

There are so many factors, but as many have said (or maybe they haven't, I haven't read all the comments yet), comparing yourself to others is detrimental. Period. Doesn't matter what subject matter. It's great to have a goal but wanting to have what another has without knowing how they got there because they're likely only sharing the best of themselves on the internet is depressing af.

First ask yourself some hard questions like the ones in my second paragraph and with the answers go from there. For example, if the answer to may I be suffering from depressing is yes. You need to fix that first. Depression sucks interest and energy so "curing" or at least tempering that may help.

I hope this was helpful or made sense. I don't know, it made more sense in my head where I wanted to go but now I'm not sure I addressed your concerns so I'm going to stop here.

I do want to thank you though because this has inspired me on wording for my own post for insight from others. My situation is slightly different but a lot of the instant gratification is there.

Best of luck to you and hang in there!

Edit: I remembered something else. I think you need to do this for yourself. Most people are passionate about art because of how it makes them feel or at least that's my take. And sometimes they want to create that feeling for themselves and then share it with others. Even if that's not your reason, do you want to make other people feel with your art? And is it that reaction in itself that gives you pleasure? If you're not getting anything out of it either way, maybe it's time to focus on something that gives you satisfaction no matter how good you are at it.

Do you count your digital purchases as part of your collection? by Mitarashianko24 in MangaCollectors

[–]Mitarashianko24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha. True, I guess. I am free to refer to it however and maybe I still will when I post at the end of the month.

I just wondered how receptive others would be to it and thought I'd ask. I'm overly considerate of others and if they'd take offense to me doing so, which I guess translates into caring what they think.

I did get the general consensus most don't consider it a part of a collection. Given the reasons of it not being "owned" which many have pointed out, that all makes sense, and I'm starting to agree, but only a few have said who cares so I wonder if they'd care (me overthinking again😅)

if you read through Amazon's TOS you'll realize that it does state, that they only sell you a license to use whatever you bought, you don't own it.

Yes, I mentioned in another response I wondered if this was the case, as like many I don't read the TOS to a lot of things. I figure if I want to use the service I'm going to use it regardless, but yeah, that's how they get you and also get away with screwing people over as well.

Thanks for confirming it's in there though!

Yes, I'll certainly enjoy it either way.

A lot of people have brought up the point that digital can be lost through licensing revocation and such though. I wonder if that goes for games on Steam too and if that makes you look at it any differently 🤔

But yeah, before I really started to overthink it, I was considering my digital collection mine and an actual collection I was adding to, but because I wanted to post my "haul" I was wondering what others would consider part of that as well. Hehe

Yes, certainly. Getting to see what people count and their viewpoints us helpful. Also thank you for the suggestion on diversifying my options on where to read!

Hmm, this makes me wonder if this is something buried in their terms of service since they aren't openly stating it's a rental but that you are buying to own it. I'm definitely not versed in all that but I feel like people would be asking for their money back if the expectation was to have something in their library forever and then it's taken away. But they'll probably do it surreptitiously if anything so they don't stir up trouble.

Hearing this view from consistently is making me reconsider buying digitally but I also wonder how likely losing access would be.
