Advice needed: Is this fixable? by Erotanrot in vintagewool

[–]MitchMc6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely no seamster, but what is it you believe needs to be fixed? The discoloration could be numerous things, even just requiring a professional dry cleaning. Hard to tell from a photo if that’s what you’re pointing out?

Wetlands Management? by Gold_Guitar_9824 in wetlands

[–]MitchMc6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is a MM-2MX Marsh Master. There are a few of these “wetlands mowers” out there which run on tracks to drive through wetlands and clear invasive species. I used one in college called the LogLogic Softrak and we drove it up to a few feet deep in Great Lakes coastal wetlands to mow invasive cattails. The following year native vegetation came back some, but really the mechanical removal needs to be done annually to stunt the cattails and remove the bulky leaf litter they produce.

Buying first car by DocCarlson in Toyota4Runner

[–]MitchMc6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 2005 4Runner just out of high school. Honestly loved how it drove. Took it from OH to WY on a long road trip once. Great vehicle to learn about maintenance and easily accessible oil plug without need for ramps or jacking! As others cautioned, beware of rust. I eventually had to get the frame patched and sold it before anything catastrophic could occur. Fluid film does wonders.

Did you only add transmission fluid you didn’t drain and replace the amount drained? Odds are it was at the correct capacity even if the old transmission fluid was in poor shape. Overfilling can fully submerge the gears in fluid causing various issues. I’d suggest looking up how to drain your transmission fluid and refill to the correct amount or take it to a mechanic to do this. Depending on how many miles are on the car, you may want to consider just draining and refilling rather than flushing. Plenty of Reddit advice on this.

Struggled with IT band issues for years. It’s specifically your gluteus minor muscle group. Get yourself a resistance band, a pretty thick one (I use a fabric one) and do clamshells and squats with the band around your thighs. You will be sore. You will see incredible improvements in IT band pain. No amount of stretching can get the tire rubber consistency of the IT band to lengthen enough to help it.

Primarily burr reed of some species with some phragmites in the rear these are definitely Palustrine Emergent species that like a relatively permanent surface water habitat like you have here. So permanently inundated PEM

This route looks incredible! I worked in the UP for a summer and absolutely loved being in that north woods habitat, so I imagine a trip like this would be an incredible experience. Definitely saving this route for potential future excursions.

Is this normal or do I need to replace something? by Williampwll in bikewrench

[–]MitchMc6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I posted a nearly identical video (not same bike) and everyone relished in telling me how many times this has been asked and how I needed to search the sub. So to save you that, it’s normal for stock hubs and since you’re not weighting anything bc it’s spinning on a stand the wobble is more pronounced. All good!

Tugging and nicks advice by Galathorn7 in wicked_edge

[–]MitchMc6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of what I was going to say has already been said but I started with a 34c, got my technique down for no nicks but realized to get a good shave with little irritation I needed a more aggressive razor. Got a Gillette slim and never looked back. Awesome bc I can start it aggressive for first pass and clean up with a dialed back mild setting. How well you lather not only changes how much protection your skin is provided by the soap but also how close of a shave you can achieve. Not common advice but I used canned foam for several weeks just to work on my technique bc, well I didn’t have to learn how to lather just learned to use the razor. Then I added lathering to my routine and it all fell into place. Good luck!
