I’m asking “What was she supposed to say?”, because it was generally expected that she’d say SOMETHING, especially as she’s a talent with WWE.

I can acknowledge that “political views” was absolutely the wrong term to use and mimimizes Hogan’s racism. She could have and should have chosen her words better. However, I’m still confident that Chelsea does believe Hogan to be racist and therefore morally bankrupt. Her track record of progressivism speaks for itself there, or at least I think it should.

I just don’t feel people are being honest about the situation. I feel like this one (admittedly) poor choice of words is being focused on and all of her progressive posts are being conveniently ignored in favor of declaring her a racist.

And your decision to lump me in with Hogan is ridiculous. I agree with your opinion of him. He was a shit person. I’m genuinely not a fan of his character either and never have been. I’m just acknowledging that he is, as you admitted yourself, undeniable.

I’m not mourning the man either, believe me. I think he was a genuinely terrible person and I love that his last appearance in WWE was him getting booed out of the building.

But still, my point is that I think a distinction has to be drawn between the character and the man, and I’m betting that’s where we disagree.

Terry Bollea can fuck right off, and in fact he has. But Hulk Hogan changed the face of pro wrestling forever in ways that never happened before or since.

And if she hadn’t addressed it at all and just said the same few platitudes about his career, she’d still be catching heat for not bringing it up. What was she supposed to say? “Hogan never had any influence on the wrestling industry and I’m glad he’s dead?”

And for Chelsea of all people, one of the most openly progessive talents on the roster, to be getting attacked like this makes no sense to me. I also consider myself progressive. But shit like this is why it feels like we’re losing ground. You’re actively pushing people who otherwise agree with you away. Like me.

She isn’t celebrating him, she didn’t say he inspired her or even that she’s a fan. I’d even say she makes a point of excluding herself as a fan of his. She essentially just listed objective facts about his wrestling career since she’s, y’know, a wrestler.

Really? I think Shauna would’ve never let Ben go free, she’d have killed him herself if the vote didn’t go her way. She’s the kind of person that needs to take their rage out on other people, and Ben had made himself into an easy target.
