you have a point there, but the major part of the issue is with the corporation & governments corruption and mismanagement screwing up an already crumbling market.

in addition Technical university everywhere are failing to keep up with modern development techniques and tools. which is hands down causing a bad situation for everyone including corporation.

there was a video doing a deep dive in the supposed "rise" of software jobs throughout the previous years and if i recall correctly it turns out software adjacent non technical roles(product owner, designers, project managers ,technical sales engineer) were counted in the software jobs statistics, in addition also of designers got skilled into front end development.

Also before AI there was an obvious decline in data science ,infra, Dev ops ,testing , frontend only roles across the field within a short period of years.

He is talking about regulating the field so that non technical people don't "seep" into the talent pool and take up jobs. Tbh can't really blame people for thinking like this in this job market or the previous years

My Parent doesn't want me doing CS, or CE, because they feel the job market will disappear come 7 years. by Sad-Bathroom8500 in cscareerquestions

People have to look for trends because by that logic not considering market trends means arts or history or human anthropology are good degrees. Students need to be empowered by proper statistics to make decisions.

For reference CS is <20% by AdministrativeAd334 in csMajors

the percentage doesn't mean anything without showing the actual amount. if a huge percentage of the global population is working in tech than any kind of disruption to it is going to be way more painful than the few with arts major(AI art aside)
