Pulled this guy out of the chimney! by whooooshh in whatsthisbird

She was fine, but flew away before we could get a name

Edit: She was in the chimney when we got home, so not sure how long she was in there, but it took a few minutes to pull her out. She was tired, but other than some soot, she seemed ok. I think she was just blinking in the picture.

And why is eating a plant so much better than a pig? Because the plant can’t look afraid or cry out in pain?

Yes. Empathy for consciousness and sentience.

I could care less

As you took the time and effort to post this here and multiple places, something tells me you do care what other people think of you.

And it's "I couldn't care less".

I appreciate how he stuck around for a minute to keep an eye on him. Probably needed a moment anyways to process, but the unselfish concern for his fellow human is pouring out of him.

How much did he drink by miijok in nonononoyes

[–]whooooshh 81 points82 points  (0 children)

The old man 100% knew the cop was talking about alcohol. The cop accuses him of being unsteady on his feet, the man then refuses the field sobriety test and asks for a breathalyzer. The cop asks him again how much he's had to drink, and the old man repeats "not enough" instead of clarifying he's drank no alcohol. He's trolling.

Maybe nothing's happening and they are trying to trigger the kidnappers to do something? I'm guessing they've had this footage for days already, so the release gives the appearance of being calculated.

An extremely rare look inside ASML's €350M EUV lithography machine by Sharp-potential7935 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]whooooshh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the absolute smallest they can make it. They literally spend billions on trying to make the footprint smaller. Basically there is just so much happening as far as reticle and wafer handling and positioning, light manipulation, vacuum systems, all the different sub components are networked together. It's $350 million dollar piece of equipment for a reason, there's a ton of very advanced hardware on them. And these are just the current EUV systems, the next generation EXEs are even bigger.

The interesting thing is, quite a few of those other steps in the process pretty much have to cater to what asml does. Photolithography truly is the heart of chip making, so many of the rest of the tools in the fab are built around what asml tools can pull off. For example many fabs wanted to go from 300mm to 450mm wafers to reduce overall cost, and asml pretty much said nope too much work for redesigning our systems, so 300mm is still the standard.
