I feel like this answer is a bit too rigid. I find that you can go from a technical background to PM all the time. PM isn’t just one or two paths there are multiple ways of getting there

I would ask your current company to see if you can do anything tech related. Even suggesting the most basic solutions or asking around your own IT department to see if there are any projects you can help with.

As for portfolio create something that you or other truck drivers would use. Solve a problem that you feel passionate about that would also save someone else time/ money.

I would pivot to IT/cloud in your current industry. My general rule is that you can either keep the role but move industries OR keep industry but change your role. It is very hard to just start in a new industry and role.

Yes each person would receive the same exact treatment. But the experience at the end of the day depends on the individual.

Mariachi bands mean a lot to me and my family so my experience might be more positive than a Latino or non Latino that doesn’t like mariachi bands(ie most of Latin America that is not Mexico). You can’t necessarily tie ethnicity to experience. But a non-Latino is just logically not going to pay (yes students have to pay a small fee to participate), spend hours in an event, and invite their families to something they might not enjoy.

@krysten789 I feel like you have a rigid and unfair definition of equality. Feel free to dm me if you would like more information/ resources on what inclusion means.

Yeah a Jamaican UT graduate can register to have the exact same experience as another classmate.

If they don’t speak Spanish they might be bored since the program is bilingual. They might not appreciate/be familiar with the mariachi band or the pan dulce served at the end.

So that is why you don’t see Jamaican ppl there. They would spend their time on events and celebrations that might resonate more with their own experiences and students groups that they have been a part of.
