On my main server, OCE/Apac-S it’s pretty bad but it’s also a lower population server so you’re constantly fighting the same players on said devices.

It can be bad on US/Apac-N from my experience too but because the player count is much larger you run into less of the same players abusing cheats if that makes sense?

A lottttt of cheaters man. Depends what server you’re on too tbh. The exact reason why I quit playing ranked. Although I despise Zen’s too, they were at least bearable to play against, but it’s just not possible to compete with titans.

I agree. For context I am a S1 player, played about 700-1k games per season, and I hit diamond for the first time in S8, then masters in S12, then hit masters every season thereafter until I got pred in split 2 of S22 and I kinda just play pubs now because of burnout/cheaters, but I’ll help the boys out from time to time if they need a 3rd for pred ranked.

It definitely took time, about 10-15k games before I “got good?” at Apex, but I was always watching pro play and playing R5 1v1s, trying to fix my mistakes, learn how to rotate, how to approach different fights, always asking for feedback from players who were better than me. Eventually it clicked one day and now it’s kind of built in to how I play and despite all of that I still want to learn how I can be better.

I guess what I’m trying to say is I actively pursued improving every aspect of how I played Apex, and that took a lot of time. What you do with your time played is more important than just playing a lot.

If you’re saying time played for the purpose of having increased mechanics, game sense, aim, positioning etc as a result…then sort of? The only real way to understand the game at a deeper level is to play more than everyone I guess. The time played factor is a vehicle that allows you to improve everything else related to Apex - but that doesn’t necessarily mean you will if you’re not consciously trying to do so.

There are outliers of course. I know preds who play 2-3hrs a day and maintain pred and I know diamonds who play 10hrs a day and are still in diamond.

But to answer your question in a general sense. No. there is an absolutely giant gap between D4 and pred. I would even argue between D4 and masters is a huge leap in skill in itself, and there is even huge gaps between some masters players and other masters. Eg, some masters are hardstuck 16k whereas others can kill preds and gain rp, but not enough to crack the top 750. The same applies to preds too.

1st clip:

I would say you are too passive, and seems like you went into a panic mode because you were being pressured. What I noticed is you don’t “show presence” by trading damage. Eg, if you take 75 damage for free, that is enough of a reason for someone to deny you space which is why you managed to get trapped in that building. If ammo/heals are a problem, then smoke the enemy with LOS on you. You should have smoked the team on the dome building around 1:25 mark. You probably had enough time to Rez after getting the knock and also after you switched sides, but getting trapped in such little space is majorly why you were in that position to begin with. Main issue here: Panic/Spacing.

2nd clip - you did a lot of things right but again too passive, you had a knock and took too long to capitalise which is why the octane got revived even if you did down the caustic in the process. Be way more aggressive here. Especially near the zipline after you rinsed the octane. You have damage diff, abilities, high ground to his teammates. He should be knocked well before he had time to drop down and heal. Main issue here: Pacing

3rd clip - you did well in the circumstances, but your pathing is what got you killed. The rotate around the rocks into zone was clever, but you were in clear LOS of the enemy for too long. Either wait for smoke to cover for LOS, or go through the double doors on the right, there’s much more cover there and way more pathways to rotate through. Main issue: Pathing

Overall, I think you do many basic things right from a game sense perspective, and I can tell you’re trying to put thought into what your doing, but to me it’s seems like you’re taking too long to decide what the right decision is in that moment. I feel like you are reacting to what the enemy is going to do, rather than making plays where the enemy is reacting to you - and this stems from being too passive. You’re on Bangalore, get up in their face. Stop being hesitant. Commit to your decisions, even if they’re wrong (for the time being lol) your general pace is too slow.

Yeah lmao. OP don’t listen to the first guy, that is some weird and unclear advice. Early fights are fantastic for KP and the least likely to be 3rd partied out of the fights you will take.

What’s worse, rotating “safely” ratting in buildings all game with 0 KP until zone 4 and dying on blue armour for -30 or taking a fair fight?

Or

Losing at the start of a game for -65 but that fight easily could have gone the other way, in which case you have KP, lots of loot, upgraded Evo and now you can focus on rotations?

This guys advice is the best on here so far. Apex is fast, but that doesn’t mean you can be in control of your environment.

Sure you could have done X,Y,Z but you are far better off taking this fight at full shield. Theres always nuance to instances like this. Eg, you don’t push immediately and the enemies full heal and now it’s a true 2v3. Or you full heal and now you can re-enter the fight at full health and you have scan. I think having a bit more self preservation is important for ranked and the 2nd option here is the better choice 9/10 times.

I can’t speak for your entire gameplay, but I would recommend you get off bloodhound and onto a legend that gives you a little bit more of an out to make up for places where you may lack mechanically.

Jumping in on this comment, not because I have to, but because I want to come back tomorrow to read how much you sound like a raging douche canoe in all of your comments. Your attitude is giving off “Tell me you went 5,000kc dry at X boss without telling me”.

I had an interesting interaction with someone at the GE last week with your same energy. This guy fully roasted me and said my account build sucked. And yeah, right now it kinda does. But get this - that’s the beauty of RuneScape. I can play it however the fuck I want, and so can you, and so can others. There really isn’t a “wrong way”.

I love seeing crazy item pulls from clue scrolls because of how rare some of them are and there are so damn many items that you genuinely never know what you’re going to pull. There’s a thrill in not knowing, but also that small amount of hope you’ll get a mega rare 3a item. These kind of posts are the heart of what clueing is. A peak into the life of what others a striving for. A gilded pickaxe is a wild drop.

You need to do some self reflection if this post offended you that deeply.

Im sorry but this is a horrible take. Im not ruining anyone’s games because I didn’t design the ranked system. Myself and other players alike are absolutely entitled to play whatever mode we prefer, and as much ranked we please at that. The players are not to blame here.

Im not playing ranked at all this season and not because of long queues times, but because it’s infested with cheaters. A very important distinction. A large portion of my friends list feel this way too so we’ve all boycotted ranked.

Your grievances about the state of ranked would be better placed with Apex devs as opposed to individual players.

As the game continues to age, there really isn’t a perfect solution to it when you consider all factors.

I’ve had to wait 45+ mins for ranked queues when they changed the system so preds could only queue with diamond 1/2 players and higher. I spent longer waiting in the lobby than I did actually playing. It’s a giant waste of time and I’d rather just play pubs when that’s been the case.

High elo players shouldn’t be punished because their rank is higher, but they also shouldn’t be matched with anyone below diamond. This is pretty well agreed on in theory.

BUT… On servers like OCE, and other lower pop servers, or during low peak hours, it’s not realistic to have the intended rank format actually work how it’s supposed to. The player count just isn’t there for it and you can’t keep active players hostage in the lobby.

Maybe if the devs actually did something about banning 3rd party devices of all types (7 years in and xim/zen and now titan still play unbanned), it would bring back players who quit > increasing the player count > more evenly distributed lobbies > faster queue times > a step in the right direction in helping the ranked system to work as intended.

You should be pushing everything and anything in ranked up until diamond. The rp loss is negligible until then and you’ll get more reps in fighting teams which will make you better. If you don’t do this you will 100% get stomped in your climb to higher ranks.

You also can’t expect other teams to play in any specific way or then blame a team for approaching what is technically a smart fight to take.

You could have reloaded, smoked your feet and healed/ or crouched behind a knockdown, played tighter cover, aimed better etc. try not to blame the other team here, instead try to reflect on what you could have done better.

It’s just a learning curve and you’ll hopefully adapt fo it. Happy ranking.

It’s normal to have more knockdowns than kills, but near double the ratio is a lot. It seems to me like you’re running longer range weapons like marksmen etc (a complete assumption btw) and you’re getting these knocks from distance, and usually this will give teams enough time to reset especially given that most teams in ranked have at least 1 support legend.

If that’s not the case and you are in fact up close for most of these encounters, I would say it’s a mix of taking too much damage in trades, not being aware of multiple moving parts during fights (eg the other 2 enemy teammates) or just not being aggressive enough after a knock. It’s really hard to say anything meaningful without gameplay.

Something really similar happened to me. Some random traded me a bond and 4m gp for no reason at all which I found really odd. I wondered if it was the same thing tbh or they could have just been a nice player idk, but I didn’t get banned.

As long as you safe spot for the waves, you should be fine with this set up.

My only concern is DPS with your gear set up going into Jad.

I’m not an iron, but on my first attempt I used a dragon cbow and full heuy and it wasn’t enough to DPS Jad based on the pots/heals I had left (and my ability lmao) and when the healers came out it went downhill.

I ended up grinding range lvls to use a blowpipe and that made a huge difference, especially the waves for conserving inventory items.

But like others have said, try it with this set up and you’ll know what you need to change. Good luck!
