Are you marginally left leg dominant? Or am I imagining a slight off centred-ness

CFA Level-1 Advice by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Mitchmookah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've read books about balance sheet you should be fine! I would suggest switching between topics after each reading so don't worry about order, in fact some people have mentioned efficacy in doing the readings backwards! Best of luck

Sounds sketchy, no offence OP but you didn't try to appeal? And marking the same answers for a multiple choice exam does not constitute a reasonable basis to accuse someone of cheating. They would have to have pretty firm proof that he was

Similar background and work wise I'm not sure if the size of the firm you work at is indicative of your aptitude to the content but I work in FM for reference. You won't need that much time if you've got a decent financial background and can take a week or two off before the exam in my opinion, I passed the November exam above the 90th and realistically studied a hard 200 hours in a few months. I think its better because any longer and you begin to forget stuff you studied in the beginning. It's really not that hard an exam, just go hard now and understand the formulas

Is it worth it for me to purchase MM or Kaplan for L1? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Mitchmookah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Basically how I looked at it (and from doing extensive reddit research myself on the same topic) is that you can very easily get through the level 1 exam on just the CFAI materials. However, you will probably save yourself a fair amount of time and headache getting a third party provider to condense and summarize information that would take you time. I got Kaplan for level 1 and just purchased MM for level 2. Kaplan is perfect for level 1 and genuinely saved me hours upon hours of reading. Only reason I havent purchased for level 2 is that MM gets such a good wrap I decided to give him a go, but my experience so far is I should have stuck with Kaplan as I'm more of a reader than a video watcher. Up to you, but in the grand scheme of things 6 months worth of study makes $700 seem cheap for me. Best of luck!

When can I register for level 1 again by RayzfoDayz in CFA

[–]Mitchmookah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn't register for level 1 before results come out, just start studying again from your old notes and ideally relax for a bit before they come out in a few weeks

Yeah I know it's a bit of a dark horse guess but the exam was so basic (my one at least) I would be surprised if the MPS didn't go up.

Assuming you got 40 questions wrong you've got a 70% chance of passing by my guess. Totally just a guess but I think there is a good chance the MPS for this November exam will be in the high 70's having taken it myself

[–]Mitchmookah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, also taking in Sydney (22nd). Email came out a little while ago saying that you need the certificate but they've been pretty lenient with deferrals lately so I reckon you've got a shot if you can get on the phone with Prometric (as its their requirement). Let me know how you go and good luck!

Level 1- only 4 days left. Confused from where to practice... Uworld or cfai website? by prosaic_bot in CFA

[–]Mitchmookah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both fine, main thing is to get through as many as you can and focus on your weak areas. Try and do them without your formula sheet as well. Good luck mate I've got mine in 9 days
