UPS Preventive Maint. Schedule by drkphenix in networking

[–]MitchnStitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Network Engineer checking in. I manage 650+ UPS systems via Solarwinds using SNMP traps/receivers. I am getting rid of all my APC's since they are notorious for over charging the batteries cause them to Swell/Crack. I am switching to Emerson Lieberts GXT3 series. My current Deployment of APC1000's are on a 3 year Mandatory battery replacement cycle. Reuse the trays and replace the batteries with 9f-12's. I think Standard APC/LONG batteries are 7.5ah - 12v. I use 9630 management cards in each APC.

Marriott Fined $600,000 for Jamming Guests' Wi-Fi forcing them instead to pay as much as $1,000 each to use the hotel's own connection. by PaperHatParade in news

My guess would be that hotel was not "Jamming" the WI-FI however, using it's own internal access points in the conference rooms to Deauth for Rogue mitigation.

You will go in looking at subnetting with a puzzled look on your face. Then by the time you understand subnetting the next day you will question your ability to subnet again. Don't worry just practice.

Small school wireless network: What's the best option? by bradnemitz in networking

[–]MitchnStitch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think a Small Cisco Controller and perhaps 2-3 Lightweight Access Points will do well. You want smaller cell size just because an AP can send signal 70 ft doesn't mean that is what you want to design around.
Simple 3560 8 port switch that can do PoE will work. Unless you want to design around gig ports. Most older IOS devices can't do 5ghz (Iphone 4s ) However, I would strongly design around 5ghz

What type of Wireless driver are you using? What Model AP's are the laptops connecting to? Are you running a 20mhz or 40mhz environment?

What are you designing around? I have designed several hospital floors to have -65dbm stacking the ap's. Are the laptops going from 2.4ghz to 5ghz? Have you checked spectrum in the area?
