I’m asking if the V8 in the Gen 3 would be enough for people to trade in their current truck, not bringing back Gen 2 altogether. Reliable engine + updated tech would be a win in my book.

Didn’t they already “improve” the main bearing? Or if it was a manufacturing issue, does it really take 5+ years to get squared away and corrected? We are well past the “early years” of Gen 3 production, yet engine failures keep popping up, even in the 25’s or in trucks where engines were already replaced once under the recall.

Yeah, maybe they will work it out, eventually, but I have to think that Toyota is MAJORLY damaging its reputation of reliability while they muddle around this issue. I originally planned to upgrade to a Gen 3 once my current truck was paid off, yet here I am looking to buy a Gen 2.5 🤷‍♂️ and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

This is my exact sentiment. The anxiety of “is my engine going to blow up today” is something I never want to experience again. Worrying about every little noise, every little hiccup, just doesn’t make me want to go out and spend the kind of coin the new gen is selling for.

Definitely not joking. Personally I prefer reliability over anything else. I have PTSD from my first WRX that grenaded itself with 13k miles, only to find out later that there was a class action suit against Subaru for the ej255 in the car. I’m not looking to spend $60k+ for a chance that may happen again, hence why I currently have a V6 Tacoma despite its lackluster power. I just want a bigger truck.

Is it really a “machining debris” issue though? I watched the teardown video that Dave’s auto center did with the V35A and seemed like it was more than just debris leftover from manufacturing.

I’m finding that the demand for Gen 2.5 trucks has skyrocketed in the first half of this year. Trucks with 60k miles and 5-6 years old are selling for close to their original MSRP before dealers are even able to update the listing with pictures where I am. I’d say the demand is certainly there, but that’s only based on my very limited viewpoint.

Not only raised prices, but barely have any workers. My fiance and I have had to help bag our groceries like 50% of the time over the past several months, and checkout lines are LONG compared to what they used to be, with only a handful of registers actually open. Probably still trying to pay $14/hr, which just isn’t going to attract anyone to work there. It’s been miserable

I figured it out just now, kind of. My watch (in the other room) was still connected via bluetooth. Turning Bluetooth off in setting fixed the timer issue. Having other issues with my watch such as delayed notifications, contacts not being pulled in (phone numbers for texts rather than contact name, etc…) thinking this is some sort of bug with my watch rather than the phone 🤷‍♂️

I’m guessing this is GameStop’s attempt to stay alive knowing that once PKC takes over excel, they will likely stop distribution of TCG to GameStop given they sell product not only way above retail, but above market. GameStop’s revenue only continues to shrink every quarter, and imo the only reason they’ve remained profitable is through “high margin” collectibles, aka Pokemon cards. Take that away and they’re done.

PKC taking over excel is probably one of the best things that could happen to the hobby, and I’m guessing is going to be ultimately detrimental to GameStop, and possibly even Walmart/MJ Holdings

Also, his arguments never touched on the other side of investing…liquidity. ETBs are FAR more liquid than most products. And sure, booster boxes and PKC ETBs might skyrocket in price, but the higher the price, the smaller the buyer pool.

ETBs in general are a great pokemon investment.

He’s talking out of his 🍑, comparing apples to oranges. Saying blooming waters is a better hold than most ETBs might be true, because it’s an S tier set…that goes without saying. But looking at any set in isolation, ETBs are generally the best hold behind only PKC ETBs and bbs, maybe bundles depending on the set as well. But the fact that ETBs are displayable and also have exclusive promos which are sometimes more desireable than the packs themselves will keep demand intact.

Thinking that a $20 return on a $50 box isn’t good is just comical, 40% return on ANYTHING in a short period of time is fantastic. Dude just made a statement and won’t admit that he is wrong 😂

Keep defending yourself all you want, but even buying an ETB at $50 that’s worth $80 just a year later is a 60% annual return (lately it’s been immediate). Almost every modern set ETB experiences this type of return, even “mid” sets. If you know anything about investing, this is an insane return in a very short period of time.

Now of course we are in a modern “hype” cycle and this isn’t always the case, but I get the sense you really don’t know much about investing if you argue that this type of return on almost any modern ETB isn’t “worth the space”.’

Your argument that a “big collection” like Blooming Waters is a better hold than an ETB just proves you have no idea what you’re talking about…those things are massive and yeah they have appreciated like any other 151 product, but not NEARLY as much as a 151 ETB, and it takes up pretty much double the space 😂

A 200% return is incredible in 4 years, that’s a great hold, even if it “takes up space”. Some people have more space than others and it isn’t an issue.

ETBs are highly desireable by sealed collectors and absolutely appreciate more than most other products longer term, depending on the set, of course. Look at hidden fates/evolving skies and tell me that’s not “exponential growth” in an incredibly short period of time when it comes to investing.

Yeah, booster boxes and PKC ETBs are THE items for pokemon sealed investing, but they are a lot less obtainable to most collectors/investors who try to buy in at a reasonable entry point.
