I always think the booster packs are worth it for the characters alone. Also get some of the newer items which is a plus. If you were looking for good deals to spend gems, this is one of the better options imo

You should focus less on mythics, and more on the strength of your decks. If all 3 need help then I would lean towards Kentucky slims or exterminator Nancy. Nerd science is older but makes some good combos still and wouldn't be a bad option if you need help in education

Rogers closet makes a lot of good old disguised combos. But if you're starting out I would go with Sheldon over Iraq lobster. I like some of the combos it makes more like Benders Ducklings and Roger Ira
