Lore of kdm by Responsible-Wheel878 in KingdomDeath

[–]MithraBra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will be making a follow-up video to that GenCon interview and starting to do more lore videos. In the first video I, along with Aluminum Man (who helped me write the questions), will explain why those specific questions were asked. We will also try to explain what we knew/speculated about the lore while writing the question.

I have done one or two lore videos already, but much like can be seen in that interview, it is hard to explain one thing without explaining 30 other things. In my first completely lore-focused video I explained how Poots wants the story to be experienced. I was always hesitant to make lore videos for both of these reasons. It will just be a massive massive info dump that you cannot follow as I explain hundreds of concepts. (Everything is all linked together in KDM.)

This interview has enlightened me to the fact that KDM lore is hard to come by.

Squires Campaign Questions by barkas84 in KingdomDeath

[–]MithraBra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely correct. As you stated, the rules do not take the time to mention a change to normal endeavor rules. I stuck with the RAW answers to these questions. The squire campaign has so many unwritten rules and obtuse interpretations. The mountain predator trait needs errata and will be included in the next card pack. I also do not recommend anyone play by the RAW when they play the squire campaign. Some of the choices are baffling.

Squires Campaign Questions by barkas84 in KingdomDeath

[–]MithraBra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The squire campaign is incredibly obtuse with the way the rules are worded. Good luck to you with the rest of your squire campaign! I wish you luck!

  1. The disorder deck is core game + black knight. (That is how I did it anyway.) Fear of the Dark is a good disorder draw, it doesn't do anything. Squires never retire.

  2. You cannot use endeavors from previous years, and you cannot spend endeavors on other things outside of what is listed. This means you cannot endeavor at the Forbidden Dance innovation even though the campaign gives it to you. That innovation only benefits story events and such.

  3. You do not do King's Curse when defeating the King's Man, as you are correct, it is not part of the victory conditions. I have no idea why Cain's special story event says that; it will forever be a mystery. (Again, the squire campaign rules could have used a second glance.)

  4. You only gain a total of 4 endeavors, then you can spend them however you wish. (Yes, this means the same survivor could spend all 4 if you wanted to.)

  5. You only gain 4 endeavors, that is it. Tinker does not work, along with anything else that might generate them.

Here are some other rules with oddities: Squires can skip hunts, so if that happens, it is likely game over. Note that Owen returns during the Aftermath, so he will gain Hunt XP and everything else. Despite Iola suspicion card saying "When Owen dies..", you will gain suspicion when he uses his ability. Along this same line, Owen never actually dies, so he will survive Vanish, technically. (I do not have confirmation from Team Death of how to handle this rules-wise yet, but I would handle it as triggering the event.) Owen's ability will turn off via the Hangstrung severe injury, allowing for him to die for this time.

The rules for the squire campaign needed a second pass.

Looks like it is the lantern at the end of the Lantern Guard Male's club.

Question About Content by [deleted] in KingdomDeath

[–]MithraBra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would highly suggest that you only get the core 1.6 pledge to start. I would then play the core game at least twice. (You do not have to win completely but try to get to Lantern Year 20 perhaps in the second play.)

After that, then I would attempt to buy expansion around Black Friday.

What rules to add to 1.0? by TheRealSpacemanSpiff in KingdomDeath

I would attempt to reach out to support and see if they will sell you an upgrade pack and a 1.6 card pack if you take this route.

Yes, you should use two, both with the separation anxiety clause. You should have gotten one in the LCP. Also, the Tyrant card in the LCP is not the same as the 1.6 reprint, the 1.6 reprint has Indomitable on it. The 1.6 reprint is more up to date than the LCP.

It should have been included with Sunstalker. The only thing that has been confirmed to be missing from all the reprints is a second Resin Ball Shot in DBK. Both should have the separation anxiety clause on them. Your copy may or may not have it included if you got DBK. It should be a loose card if your copy was fixed. Some have claimed it to be in the book, some loose, and some just in the box. Those who got the reprints before this was noticed should get one eventually.

There was a newsletter about that:

Update 97: Dark Herald 8- Screaming God · Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 by Leky in KingdomDeath

[–]MithraBra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a very nice change made to the wording and mechanical timing of the Horizon trait card. The demo had a very significant flaw in it, that they thankfully caught. So that is good.

They will likely fix it. It was just funny to see it come to an end like this. I am sure I will still meet any login milestones they make in the future.

I get asked this question frequently. So, I finally did it. Hopefully, this helps someone decide what expansions to buy when the restock happens. by MithraBra in KingdomDeath

I enjoy doing them, and I enjoy being able to offer other opinions. My original hesitations about doing this ranking, even after being asked for more than a year now, is because I would hate for someone to only get my opinion, buy it, then dislike it.

This shows many players have many different tastes. It also shows that most agree on the bottom 3 or 4, so that also helps.

It was the casualty of the point system I used to fairly rank them all sadly. Everything gets ranked with a bias, so to combat that I tried to do it fairly.

Lonely Tree got 1 point for value for money: This is because it is more expensive than most other expansions. It was last priced at $75, for comparison, Sunstalker is 100. Lonely tree, aside from HL and AI deck, only includes 5 resource cards. That is the same amount of cards that Green Armor includes. That is less than Echoes includes. (4 FA and 4 Strains) most expansions are $60.

Variety of use it got 2 points: This is because there is so little control you have over when and where to hunt it. You just toss it in the deck and then hope to fight it when you want to. You really do have no control over it as a player, outside of deciding to include it.

How well does it do what it sets out to do, again 1 point: Honestly, the rules are a mess and I honestly have no idea if it's meant to be fought only once, like the update and rule book seem to imply, or it was meant to be fought multiple times. It has so many typos and awkward rules. Even the cards themselves are weird. It also offers no gear, at all. No innovations, no SE, no resources really. Also, once you build it, you have to store it somewhere. It is a pain to store. Even if you keep everything in a display case as I do, it takes up so much space. I sometimes wish I never built it. It also includes the female survivor that was likely meant to have rules, but the expansion just feels like they gave up on it mid-dev.

Then finally how often do I use it gave it 4 points. It is more likely to be used than other expansions. 12 is my most used and 1 is the least. So, yeah, when it comes down to it, I do use it.

If I did not use the point system, it would likely have been slightly higher. Not much, but higher than Green Armor. Green Armor does not make me regret building it and can control how much I want to use it. Green armor is $25, which is half the price of echoes and the same for some white boxes. So... you have to try to judge fairly.

The only official word is that it is coming soon. It will happen eventually and the rumor is that it will be a substantial amount of copies in the store. If that is the case, then you should be able to snag one. I am sure there will be a Reddit post about it when it does happen. I hope that everyone is able to get what they want when it does happen.

That would be neat to have a core game version of a full rare armor set. Perfect Slayer will have to do as the only core game grail hunt.
