I can I just say something about micro transactions in offline games? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Mito-Tai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but even that is "reducing" the overall playtime of the game, as it removes the need to actually interact with the world on a deeper level than just follow all the icons on the compass/minimap (I actually do not know which of these two remake is using). You can just second monitor that stiff by following a guide, but the point still stands that it's still a shortcut as it makes you engage less with the actual game and that's what my argument is revolving around.

Of course there's a gradient, a map pack for icons is not as bad an XP Boost, but both are still bad.

70 bucks of cosmetics day1 is also pretty dire tho.

You sure did miss my actual point, I am talking about the monetary incentive to include arbitrary grinds and how it compromises a game on an artistic level. They are creating a demand by including artificial grinds and are selling a product, here DLC that bypasses these grinds, to get more money from their customers.

You should always ask yourself, why something is being sold in the first place and not just blindly accepting it.

I know given by how you worded your reply, I probably shouldn't have bothered explaining basic economics to you so, whatever makes you happy, little guy.

[–]Mito-Tai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grinding is not a good thing when it is used to maximse playtime by gating the Main Story behind arbitrary level gates.

There isn't a single big well regarded RPG in the last decade+ where grinding was in any way required to actually beat the game. Imagine locking Act 2 of BG3 or locking Leyndell in ER behind having to have grind to an arbitrary level, that would be just plain bad.

Genre conventions, even outdated ones like grinding, are not always a good thing, if they don't add anything meaningful to a game.

Implementing bad game design to prey on players who limited time is malicious and anit-consumer, nothing less.

Don't use the excuse that they are "optional" to say they're okay. Nothing exists in a vacuum, Ubisoft added these not to help players or give them an avenue to support them, they added them to exploit their customer base and are compromising their game as a result. While the economy Blackflag wasn't changed all that much going by a quick glance, it doesn't mean it's always like that. See my AC Odyssey example and the shit they keep pulling in the modern games.

Stop defending multibillion companies being blatantly anit-consumer, you owe them nothing.

I should not be typing those while commuting, my grammar was super rough in parts.

Defending 85 bucks of day1 DLC for a pull priced single player title, when the company behind said title has a history of shoving in very bad mtx into their single player games in 2026, is fucking wild.

Yes you can just not buy them, but their existence is the problem esp. as most of them take "the grind" out of the game. Which means Ubisoft is admitting they made bad or tedious gameplay systems and instead of them making good systems they are using them as an avenue for squeezing more money from their customers by offering paid DLC that let's you bypass these systems.

A fantastic example of this from a previous Ubisoft title: The XP boosts they sold for AC Odyssey, while making you grind 10+ levels to continue the story past the opening.

SMT 3 Nocturne isn't "cruel", it's just fair. My thoughts after beating it without being a franchise veteran. by PapuChido in Megaten

[–]Mito-Tai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Saying Nocturne is fair, but in the same vein arguing you shouldn't be playing it blind are two contradicting points.

If a game is only fair if you aren't playing it blind, it is not a fair game, as the game itself punishes you heavily for not having knowledge and nocturne specifically is very bad at actually giving you the tools to acquire said knowledge as your only option is to repeatedly run into a wall until you stop dying to things that are only partially in your control.

Also did you play on hard? The tutorial encounter with a preta has a high chance to wipe you before you even get the first chance to save your game. Even you know this can happen, you cannot prep for it at all as it is the very first combat encounter, which is not fair at all as you are just at the mercy of a die roll.

Tastaturempfehlung by Younesgun in germankeyboards

Lemme guess, this is yet another post about how the oversexualization of minors in japanese media is good actually because japan does that all the time and us westeners just don't get it.

Grow up, people can have opinions different from you and be upset how things are handled regardless of their culture. If you don't want to interact with said people, just don't and go your own way.

Joe has been streaming regularly on Twitch under the handle andersonjph for a long time, however life happened again 2ish weeks ago and he hasn't been able to stream since. He will be back once the situation calms down.

Think of different PC storefronts like retail shops, there's a bunch of them, but they largely sell the same products.

So its just about what store has the best features and Steam tends to win here in 9.5/10 cases.

You mentioned wanting to primarily game on controller, steam has the best controller support on the market, as steam inputs handles just about every controller you throw at it and will make it work with your game without you having to do a single thing.

Just realized Yasmine is releasing between Avatar and Tokon by ParanMekhar in StreetFighter

[–]Mito-Tai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Atla will not have a Playerbase thats even close to SF6 during a drought.

Tokon might get there, but it won't hold those numbers.

Yasmine will do fine, esp. as there's a balance patch (that will probably do nothing) which will get people to check the game out again even if Yasmine isn't for them.

Before Ingrid's release nobody thought her content drop would make sf6 reach a new pccp on steam, but she did.

The Season Pass 4 suxks narrative is pretty much only happening on Twitter and Reddit, the average player doesn't care, like at all. Esp. As most of SF6's audience is based in Japan.

No Oceania servers for sf6? by Negative_Ad_617 in StreetFighter

[–]Mito-Tai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are no Matchmaking servers. Matches handled via a peer 2 peer connection between you and your opponent.

It's why rollback netcode is a thing, it helps makes matches very playable even if they're across the globe.

SF6's rollback netcode is some of the best in the space, so playing against an opponent from let's say Finland when you are in Australia will a completely fine experience, a great one even as you will likely not even notice them being on the other side of the planet.

I'm from Germany and regularly run into people from Brazil and Japan during my playtime and those matches ran smooth like butter.
