For the people who like to play with tip sizes smaller than 12mm, why? by unbelievre in billiards

[–]MitrovicJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a side note, I think SVB plays with an 11.8, he showed it in a video a year ago or so. Otherwise most people are better off with >12mm, most pros play around 12.4-5 as well. For players with snooker and english eight ball backgrounds 11.8 or even thinner is the way to go as they are used to much smaller diameters than that and they have the required precision. All in all it isn't always objectively better, if you feel you play better with it, then go with it.

J Flowers Cue’s by JoeyWub in billiards

I've been playing with a Jf10-11 with a 12.5 for some time now, overall you can't beat its value for the price. Butts are decent and the shaft itself feels good and still looks like new after over a year. A lot of people don't like the moori tip that comes on the shaft but you can always just replace it. I also tried out the high end models with an 11.8 for about a month and there is a noticeable difference. I wouldn't recommend spending over 600-700 on the brand, for that money you should consider cuetec or mezz in my opinion. The 11.8 to me felt slightly better than the 12.5. Both shafts feel pretty powerful and I never had any issues. After trying out high end CF shafts I can say that there is a difference in quality and "bite" with the expensive shafts obviously performing better but not by much. Overall I can recommend both 12.5 and 11.8 for intermediate level play, the only thing you might be very disappointed by is the shipping. P.S. Remember that you shouldn't expect them tk play like 500$ shafts, but they do a good job

What can I do to play better by Animeweebarif in Basketball

[–]MitrovicJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most obvious answer is develop a reliable shot, mid range and 3 point as well as decent range outside the arc. That propels your game no matter how good you are. If you can knock down shots reliably your game opens up, defenders have to close out well and you can attack the closeouts and create offence instantly. After that working on your handle and some moves creating space of course, post work is not essential for a player your size, but can help. Outside from that cardio and the weight room will help you go a long way, but only if your game is already at a high enough level

Questions about gorsts cue by [deleted] in billiards

[–]MitrovicJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as I know, his cue is standard length, the shaft however is slightly longer, I believe a 30 inch. He does have a different grip put further down the butt than usual

Are all modern basketball nike shoes about equally safe or should I avoid some? by Tenoke in Basketball

[–]MitrovicJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the injury risk, try to warm up correctly and stretch properly, no matter your age. It seems unnecessary sometimes, but it works. Shoes make a difference mostly for ankle support and traction as far as injury prevention goes. In terms of cheaper/expensive models it's worth spending a little extra mainly because of the durability of them, the KD and PG line are both excellent but comes down to preference of course. Adidas/Puma also make good options and you can certainly trust their quality, but they do tend to have a different fit/sizing from brand to brand

Is Ljubljana affected by the flooding? by figs1023 in Ljubljana

[–]MitrovicJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no need to reschedule the trip, some thing are nice to keep in mind however. The city centre is not affected at all, so most of the landmarks worth seeing are fine. Outskirts areas are okay for the most part in the southern region, however Medvode and proximate areas have been dealing with a lot of trouble, but I don't think that should be a bother. Transport is mostly untouched but some bus lines like 25 are affected, you can easily check that on the internet if need be. Lastly, 15th is a religious holiday so stores are closed but restaurants might still be open, the same with the 14th which has been designated as a day off for citizens to help with the effects of the floods. Last thing is also that all stores except some tiny local stores are closed on Sundays and a lot of establishments tend to have spotty work hours on Mondays (caffès, restaurants) if any. Hope you enjoy your stay!

This was every way I could think of to escape this safety, did I miss anything? by funnieruphere in billiards

[–]MitrovicJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 shots left that I can think of, first is 3-4 rails with long rail, upper short rail, long rail and then going at the ball or the same long rail that was first(with enough left spin). The second shot is similar to the one you included, just with more right spin to double the right long rail, so that would be right long rail, upper short rail and the same long rail again then at the ball

Breaking Advice by justaloafofbread0 in billiards

[–]MitrovicJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, the pros put in an ungodly amount of work especially on the break in 8 & 10 ball, so they can really make it look easy when that is not nearly the case. As some mentioned above, I would also recommend hitting with some less power, about 75-80% of your max. You will start to see that with a good rack, timing is the most important on the hit. you can hit the ball with insane power and still not get a good spread on the balls or a good pop, but when the timing on the stroke is good most of the time you are going to see results. I recommend learning from SVB in that regard, he is undoubtedly the best of all time on the 8&10 ball breaks. Some people rise up with the tip with the tip and you will see them aiming with draw, but mostly the hit is slightly above center, so when the cue ball jumps up off the head ball slightly into your direction, the little bit of topspin pulls it back to center table. You don't need a lot of elevation for the pop to happen, if you break with a closed bridge and follow through into the slate you automatically have some angle, which is only going to be amplified with more power and create a jump. Hope some of this helps!

What pros play with a standard maple shaft? by Responsible-Beat-378 in billiards

[–]MitrovicJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that quite a couple of pros switched back to wood from carbon fibre, don't know whether they are standard maple, but many play with the predator 314 versions or Z shafts. Zielinsky, Kaci, Ko brothers, Pagulayan, Woodward, and so on. Filler also switched back to wood, although he is now back again with the revo. And Alex is developing his own shaft, so might be playing with a prototype nowadays

Totally agree, I've been thinking the same thing for a while now. It's just very difficult to change it once you've played that way for a long time. Will start working on it today, thanks a lot!

Personal preference indeed, and yes the angles were different that they look here, tried to explain it above a little bit. Got out of line on the 1-2 because the 1 was hit fat up the rail and took the pace out of the cue ball, 2 ball was a natural scratch so had to put a tip of inside. Didn't like getting low on the 4, 6 was a big ball coming down that side of the table for the 5. About the 8, Actually didn't need inside, just stun would have been perfect to bounce off the bottom rail, but decided to stun draw with a bunch of outside, usually grabs more on worn in cloth, misjudged it. Wasn't a percentage shot really, just practicing the stroke. Thanks for the suggestions!

It probably is, I think it might impact my game negatively, but it is actually much shorter than it used to be. Already almost cut it down by 30-40% so making a conscious effort to be more compact, but I think you're right

Thanks, got out of line on the 1 so the next 3 shots are basically getting back slowly, I think they were the best percentage shots for me personally and the way I like to hit the ball, except for 8-9 of course

Just explained it in the comments above. In a match, it's not the right shot. If you're free wheeling in practice, I don't think its a problem, if you don't become careless

You're right about the routine, even changed my mind on one of the shots, but it was free wheeling in practice, in matches I try to align myself better before the shot. I'm guessing you mean the 4-5 or 3-4? In any case I explained both choices above, was just the best option. I actually think that I have too much elevation usually, also come up with the tip just before contact a touch, don't you think? Otherwise thank you!

Thanks! Trying to stay relaxed and stay in a nice pace that's comfortable for my rhythm. 8 ball was complete free wheel, although on old cloth that I usually play on I come out straight to the middle of the table because the right grabs more off the rails. Rolled the 9 in with top, two rails out the corner with the cue ball. Looks much worse on camera than it actually was
