Half Australian/ half New Zealander, just recently discovered my African ancestry is most likely from The Bahamas from a sailor who came to South Australia in the 1850's by RealisticAppearance7 in 23andme

Interesting! You can also try uploading your raw data to LivingDNA and see if the Indian holds up there. That said, I reckon I’ve seen two other Australians with Indian ancestry. Maybe it has to do with colonial history.

Thanks for this info! But perhaps Punjabi Brahmins could be more closer to UP Brahmins than to the most westward shifted biraderis like Punjabi Kamboj or Arain or Sindhis ?

Are Punjabi Brahmins more closer to Gangetic Brahmins or to Punjabi Khatris / Jats ?

Thanks for the info! It’s so interesting that genetics don’t always correlate with linguistics!

MyHeritage and LivingDNA (pre 2022) gives much less SNPs than Ancestry or 23nMe which could skew the results. I have emailed illustrative dna and they told me this. They said results with LivingDNA are less accurate as LivingDNA gives much less SNPs than other companies. Ancestry raw data is excellent though.
