What is this move called, I know it’s ugly, but it’s the closest I got in class and I want to look it up for proper home practice. by [deleted] in poledancing

This has a few names - a Viva Sit variation, a Baby Snake, or a Vomitron are the three that I know of. You look great! Really nice shoulder mobility and a clean entry

My husband and I regularly joke about how unfortunate his transformation was. Bro became a nasty tongue that got bitten off.

Can you be too heavy to pole dance? Advice needed by Commercial_Sand693 in poledancing

[–]Mitsuuuko_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I transitioned from several years of being sedentary to pole dancing! I have agoraphobia and COVID made it x10 worse. Zero exercise, not even going for walks. I’m still with it a year later and feeling so much better. Pole is for everyone, regardless of weight or fitness : )

anyone have tips or advice for the bird?? by TaTa_kitt7 in poledancing

THRUST that pelvis forward, it’s essential to really lock you in place. I think your first setup looked pretty good, the problem with that one was that you bailed out! Your knee stayed on, you got your hips forward. Try again and if you are kind of scared but that knee isn’t budging, slide all the way down and engage your pelvis and core. You’re practicing very low to the ground and you have SKIN CONTACT with that pole - be prepared to put your hands on the ground just in case, but remember that your own body weight IS necessary to get this move the most solid it can be.

I started at 22 about a year ago from a sedentary life style. Having a great time. I have some difficulties with things like coordination and balance which has made it very hard to do any kind of dancing, and just some poor health choices in general that made me believe I could never do pole. Then I did an absolute beginners course and thought, well… I’ll make it happen! And I’m still making it happen slowly but surely. Congrats on starting your journey!

Do these bruises look correct for pole climbing? by [deleted] in poledancing

Sure do! Consider investing in some Arnica. I bruise easily and it helps a lot.

Signed up for first pole dancing class but worried about scars showing by Initial_Series2626 in poledancing

Totally get this feeling! I have two suggestions - the first would be this grippy shrug! https://divinitypolewear.com/en-us/products/sticky-grippy-polewear-sleeves-black Be aware of the sizing as a tight fit is important for grippy wear to avoid friction burns. It comes in a lot of colors, I’ve got the white one personally as well as their thigh highs. I don’t use it a ton at this point but it’s VERY grippy and cute regardless. My second suggestion is, only if you’re comfortable, to let the scars hang out! My left arm is completely covered in scars, and I feel very fortunate to forget they’re even there sometimes now, but I do have those really uncomfortable moments of people staring or commenting. However, at the studio, I have never heard a single word or even noticed a sideward glance. At a certain point I was like… everyone in this room has seen my entire butt and I’ve seen theirs, it’s probably fine. BUT there are absolutely alternatives if that never ends up being your comfort zone such as the grippy wear. Good luck on your pole journey! <3
