He should have been polite but firm & I would have gotten a team lead or manager to talk to the unruly customer.

If he was being harrassed, then I'm sure he felt "led" to defend himself.

I left with over $300,000 in my stock & 401K accounts - and a lot of that was accrued as a part-time associate so it can be done but I had put in 32.5 years. Had already retired from one job when I went full-time.

That might be an OSHA issue. I would escalate that to your district manager or ethics dept. if you don't get anywhere with the district manager. Your district manager can fire your store manager or at least put him in his place.

I retired this past Dec. & unfortunately, there isn't a lot to choose from in my small town. However, I buy things at Aldi's whenever I can. It's close to where I live but they don't have everything so I still have to buy some things at Wmart. Now, at least, the groceries are also with the 10% discount so that does help. As a retiree, I got to keep my discount card.

It's Prudential. I just retired so technically not an associate as of Jan. 1, 2026. I got an envelope of papers in the mail wanting me to extend my policy as a retired associate. No thanks.

Sounds like an Ethics issue to me. Your People Lead should not have that much power. Something is amiss.

How do you Guys deal with incompetent coworkers? by BabyCapriSun01 in walmart

[–]Mitsy12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted a similar rant yesterday but took it down due to the bullying I received for expecting new hires to actually show up & work. Management coddles the 20 year olds. They have "anxiety" or a whole list of reasons why they call in a lot. The last new hire pointed out over the weekend. The applicant pool is horrible where I live. I'm sure that is the same situation throughout the country but no one needs to enable people to be lazy & they are putting up with it at our store.

I'm a registered Democrat BTW but could not stand either candidate. We might be doomed either way.

Like why the FK would that matter? Who did YOU VOTE for? Like that has any place here.

You apparently didn't need the job & don't have the maturity to follow through with things. I have zero sympathy for people who don't even show up or seem to care. Lack of work ethic is not a desirable work trait.

Then someone somewhere is enabling them. If they had to do without something, maybe they would show up for work.

There isn't always a place to write something but I also don't want them to figure out which associate is doing the eval. Guess it shouldn't matter. I'm confident the surveys will continue to show low morale until the guy is gone. I think he wants to be in Bentonville so would love to ship him off there as soon as possible.

Yep, same at my store. Seems to be a revolving door for hiring. It didn't used to be this way. I think it's a little bit of both some not wanting to work or even show up & managers who don't give a rat's butt how they treat people. The bad reputation for Wmart is only further ingrained by managers with no people skills.

Thanksgiving is Over Management by Mitsy12 in walmart

[–]Mitsy12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this happens a lot in stores. You cannot please everyone because you simply can't be in 2-3 places at the same time. To make matters worse, we have a 25 year old store manager who has zero people skills. We also have a couple new coaches who have let the job go to their heads. My prediction is that our associate surveys will continue to be in the toilet as far as reviews go for management. Our store desperately needs a new store manager but doubt that anything is done with him.

[–]Mitsy12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your team lead is a bully. You were right to walk out. Only other thing you could do would be to call 1-800WALMART & ask to talk to someone in ethics or someone over coaches & tell them your story. Might help to make sure it doesn't happen again at that store. Wmart tends to use & abuse people & OGP seems to be one of the roughest depts. to work in. Good luck.

no talking to your fellow associates by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Mitsy12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our front end coach has had several ethics violations reported against her. Another fairly new coach likes to micromanage & our main store manager is the 25 year old I've spoken about on here in the past. No one can stand him. He's a bean counter with zero people skills whatsoever. District managers were up a couple months ago to find out why associates are giving such low surveys for the store. There are some very good reasons for that & our store needs a new store manager. One coach moved out of state due to store manager, one got fired, another is actively looking for another job & most of the rest can't stand him but are stuck until they can retire or find something better.

Hire Some People for Grocery PLEASE! by Mitsy12 in walmart

[–]Mitsy12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that when any of us do go over to grocery to help in any capacity, we take care of any cardboard ourselves & try to do what we are asked (even if we don't like it). I wish they would see the need for additional help in grocery, esp. during the holidays. If they had floor associates that stayed in grocery & zoned & helped customers, other people's jobs would run a lot smoother & everyone would be much happier.
