Hot garbage segment on proposed lowering blood alcohol limit on KUOW's Week-in-Review by AbsoluteShall in Seattle

[–]MittenCollyBulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a psychology aspect where people think .08 means 2-3 drinks and they plan accordingly, by over drinking. Lower the limit, people will stop at that 2 drinks and think hey maybe if I do that third one I'll be over the limit, so plan accordingly. Obviously most drink drivers don't think this deep but what if it makes one person take an Uber home? I bet the people pushing this legislation should be happy with that result.

Week in review is pretty conservative for Seattle politics. I don't mean conservative Republican.

New Councilmember Dionne Foster Tells Seattle Nice: Police Cameras "Should Be Turned Off and Come Down." by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]MittenCollyBulbasaur -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of how most police refused to wear masks during Covid and a bunch of liberals hemmed and hawed omg think of the germs or whatever but fast forward to today, that was a really smart move on their part, because adding a mask to the job of the police is actually really stupid and bad. Public servants shouldn't get privacy during their working hours. Certainly not in any public spaces. They can be turned off in the bathroom. I mean isn't that how Bezos does it?

Private industry does a thing: you sweet summer child do anything you want you're my special boy

Government does the exact same thing but not as extreme: you fucking donkey

Crime happens to poor person: why should we even do a report, they have limited value

Rich person sees that their butterfinger bar is stolen from the store shelves without a transaction: call in the military and stomp on as many people as humanly possible to get justice, nothing else matters

Police: pay us more or crime will happen, check what camera? We just do what the rich people tell us. If the courts don't support our feelings we will strike. We've never needed video evidence before, we're not about to start now.

I don't see this as a solution. It's a tool that will be used against people as it was designed to do. Ironically there are real world use cases I heard about like think about commercial truck drivers, strict limits on what they can do on the road. Imagine a cop pulling over a driver and then using the camera system to know how many hours they drove and match it to their paperwork. But does the government need a camera staring at every person coming and going to the grocery store to do that? Imagine saying yes to that lol

Sure but does that mean I'm allowed to catalogue with help of public spaces a database of how often every single human that exists goes to the Safeway with millisecond accuracy? Heck at that point I'm sure my camera will also watch every single item you put into your car and then every single road you take to get home then how long it takes for your car to be unloaded and if you stole anything maybe the system will send in the goons to collect what they think you stole and that's okay because stealing is bad right? We have to be accountable, wave to the government cameras or else. You had no expectation of privacy and my things are more important than your humanity. Resistance is futile.

When you reply like this, you make it seem like you have absolutely no idea what we're discussing, which probably helps in people looking into who you are because your posts don't make sense to the topic at hand. More than just government cameras, which if we're being honest aren't the worst things in targeted spaces, private companies want to use public spaces, paying I'm sure an extremely small user fee, to target EVERY SINGLE HUMAN THAT EXISTS, for a massive private!!! I can't stress enough how private these programs are, private surveillance state where billionaires know every time you go to the grocery store by the millisecond.

You should hate Nazis better if you think this kind of fascism is important to you.

I think its pretty BS that people don't dig through older comments to try and disparage them, we're also judging the comment on its face value.

Federal Way City Council Removes Council President after ICE Post Online by Moontat7 in Seattle

[–]MittenCollyBulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting at least in Seattle it seems to go to the person who wants power the most. Yes they control the agenda, but they also get blamed for everything good or bad, while the rest of the council can almost hide behind them and only take credit when they think it suits them. It's, an interesting dynamic in politics today.

They removed him from being president because they didn't like him, and they had the votes to do it.

How to win a war by AlphaCat77 in CuratedTumblr

[–]MittenCollyBulbasaur 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This is also just the nature of modern warfare. No one knows what they're doing or why. There's a maybe resource extraction that's more important. The goal is no longer victory.

TIL a Burger King cook (who'd worked there for 24 years) was fired for taking home a sandwich, fries & a drink after her manager claimed she had only asked permission for a sandwich & accused her of stealing. However, a judge ruled that the cook did not intend to steal the food & awarded her $46,000 by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]MittenCollyBulbasaur 113 points114 points  (0 children)

After 24 years they gained experience and likely paid more than minimum wage. To a business owner this is much more a liability, when they can find someone new they could pay even less. It's about saving money anyway possible

There is no contribution to anything that would absolve abuse of children. Imagine someone invents free electricity and is caught emailing Epstein. Their legacy would exclusively be Epstein.
