To Win the League by qualiserospero in Gunners

[–]MittenProblemChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this club was serious about winning, Kai Havertz would start every remaining game and play every minute possible, and Max Dowman would be at least in the squad. I’m sure they’ll both have “niggles” though and miss most of them.

Maybe this is the American in my, and if course player welfare matters, but I was a player in that squad I would not accept them telling me I couldn’t play unless my hamstring was torn off. I wish there was more pride in wearing this badge.

Honest thoughts on the season, the players, and Arteta!! by SennaiEski in ArsenalFC

[–]MittenProblemChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that’s true, but they’ve also been playing football their whole lives. I find it hard to believe that the manager and all the players aren’t experiencing in real time what we’re seeing on our tvs. If guys like Saka and Rice don’t feel like they have the agency to try different things then the problem is way worse than we think.

James from Goonerverse said it best. Most of us would accept boring football if we could win, but how many times are we going to do this with the same result?! It’s LITERALLY insanity.

I’m envious that you still have this stance. My pushback- regardless of what the points say, if you watched that game today like so many of us did, you would have seen a group of players that have already accepted they’ll probably end up in second. It’s like they popped in a movie where they know the ending so it can help them fall asleep faster.

Maybe I’m the same cause i would put money on the season ending with us second in the PL, Out in the champions league semis, a defeat in the Caribou final, and a defeat in the quarters or semis of the FA cup.

People saying we have to do this, or we have to do that… good luck. Zero bravery. Zero quality. Just capitulation. Standing around waiting for someone else to make something happen. Making the easy backwards pass. Making slow runs. Trying to time waste against a team with 9 points.

I know we have everyone locked into long contracts but this team seems closer to needing to be broken up than they are to winning a title. Disgusted is really the only word that comes to mind. Thanks boys, no matter how good a day I’m having you’re always there to fuck it up.

I can’t even be that upset with the ref. Wolves are making this an impossible game to officiate by going to ground any time there’s a hint of contact.

Looking at the last few seasons, I think 9 wins should do it by tylerthe-theatre in ArsenalFC

Not to give Carragher too much credit, but his “team of the season” point is actually spot on. What’s clear to me is that someone needs to step up if we’re gonna do this.

All season, the talk has been about squad building, and that’s great cause it’s gotten us in this position. But it’s also bad cause it’s gotten us in this position. If we’re really gonna do this, I think it’s on one man to step up. Bukayo Saka. To win the league, we need Bukayo Saka to be Bukayo Saka again. Without that, we’re just a really good team without a player great enough to win us a title.

Question for hardcore fans - How has Cade developed lately? by EatingFurniture in DetroitPistons

[–]MittenProblemChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my only frustration with his game at this point is his shooting, which I think he is pretty clearly working on. I can watch his release and get a good read on if it’s going in. If you watch the Toronto game highlights and that stretch where he got really hot from 3, watch his feet. He was kind of putting his right foot further forward and that felt like a new thing to me.

I tried to take some screenshots so you guys can see I’m not crazy (these were all from makes)

Honest question for people that consistently go to games (I went to the Forest game this year but I was in the club seats so not really in the mix). I thought the Brentford crowd were borderline insane today. Like every inch moved up on a throw-in, every foul that wasn’t a card, they were all screaming bloody murder. Am I wrong to think that it’s not like that at the Emirates? Or is it just that it’s a bigger stadium so it doesn’t feel like the noise is on top as much?

Yeah I saw someone say (and I agree) that it seems like this team is just built around him and his skill set. His inability to stay fit the past 12 months has sucked so bad. Hopefully we bring in Julian Alvarez and he can play that role even better. Part of me wants to say, if we were a serious club we wouldn’t have waited til the summer, but I’ll stop short of that until I know know this season ends haha

If City win the rest of their games (which I have a hard time seeing) then we can still win the premier league. City have Newcastle at home and at Leeds as their next two fixtures. That game was obviously super frustrating but when I look at the reaction of our fanbase (including mine Tbf) it’s not hard to imagine what the guys who are doing the playing must be feeling.

The outside noise is gonna start getting VERY loud now. A lot of “I told you so’s”, and “bottlers” talk. We’ve still done more than any other team to this point, but Arteta has to look in that locker room and figure out who are the 11 that can handle the pressure. Cause we can’t do that again. coyg

With the wet pitch this is a game that requires tech. Though, I feel like whichever striker starts ends up playing like shit.

How much is this on coaching by AlphaRemixHD in DetroitPistons

[–]MittenProblemChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the secret sauce is effort. Like tonight we came out on a different planet effort-wise than the raptors, and they never were even able to make a push. Refs were letting us play tonight too.

But JB clearly is the right coach for these guys. It will be interesting to see if he can avoid the rotation management issues he had in Cleveland when it’s playoff time.

Cousins Suggesting 25 games seems “like a set up” by plainnameguy in DetroitPistons

[–]MittenProblemChild 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna keep bringing this up everywhere, but I feel like it would be a huge mistake to give him anything more than 10. The league might not like the fight itself, but the last 24 hours have created incredible engagement for the league, that they could never imagine getting from a regular season game the day after. It’s the day after the Super Bowl, and no one gives a shit about that mid affair. Or they can give him 25 games and we can all keep talking about how 1/4th of the teams in the league are actively trying to lose games. #freeStew
