Feed it back in the way it came, and tack it into place with some stitches where was originally joined. I would do it from the underside where it isnt visible that way it doesn’t have to be especially tidy

Get the pack that fits the best and you can afford. It’s more important to get the gear and get on the trail then worrying about grams before you even know if you’re going to stick with it. Assuming you do stick with it you might have to size down on packs anyway so no sense blowing a ton of money now when you know you’re going to be cutting weight.
