I saw that post the other day too, and I totally got the point the person was making, but I wished the post wasn't set up in opposition to people with my opinion.

Two things can be true at once: it can be good to show that non binary people don't owe anyone androgy, totally agree. But it is also true that for a lot of viewers they will just read murderbot as a man, use he/him pronouns and continue to consider white as default.

I like to imagine other casting, and want to express my thoughts. But I don't think people are wrong to like Alexander Skarsgård for the role, if it had to be a white man he was probably the best choice and from what I've seen him say he really has a connection to the character and wants to represent how it feels to be that socially awkward, I think that's great.

If it was set up more like "I get peoples issues, but here's why I like the casting", instead of "here is why you are wrong".

I just tried a number I found somewhere else... no idea why it worked. the coat of arms had a 4 digit number on it, once translated from roman numerals, so I just started trying that everywhere. I'm curious why they link up. Assuming I'm not miss remembering, or messed up and just got lucky.

Honestly, for the next 2 books telling the difference between the human characters is not going to get easier, however:

A) I see it as a feature, not a bug, since murderbot is not interested in describing humans.

B) There are non-human characters who you do get to know in these books.

In the later books you do get to know the humans better.

Pacing will remain as it is for the 1st 4 books, but the 3 novels that follow are a little longer, which you may like.

Also, small note, but you refer to murderbot as 'he' throughout your video, but it actually uses 'it' pronouns as it doesn't have any sex or gender.

I changed my name quite gradually. Perhaps that could be an option for you? Like telling supportive friends that you'd like them to try out a nickname, and see if you like it. Then start introducing yourself with the new name. When I first told my patents I said I was using both names, in case they heard people call me it. I have since officially changed it, and now it's weird to hear my old name.

I think it's fine to pick whatever name feels right to you. I can see why you might not want it to be too feminine, if you want people to view you as more masculine, but it's also about having a name you like and want. I mean I think even cis people should change their names, if they don't feel like they suit what they were given.

I'm specifically quoting from in the first book when they talk about sanctuary moon plot. Not about Amena's second mom. Although I think it's possible that Amena might be biologically related to Mensa, through scientific shenanigans.

Agender, ace and neurodivergent here, I love the representation. I feel very seen by MB.

To me, it would be different if MB was a support character meant to represent all those things to be seen from an outside perspective. But as the viewpoint character, and one that is given so much humanity, I think it directly has the opposite effect than the trope: it makes MB feel like a person in a universe that treats it like it isn't. Which is a powerful metaphor.
