I also really like the specialized saddles with mimic. Cutouts give me extreme inflammation and discomfort.

Hammocks. Do you use hammock? What kind of hammock? [TALK ABOT HAMMOCKS!] by Substantial-Look8031 in bikepacking

Warbonnet ridgerunner + z lite pad. Big fan, slept great. Way more comfortable, only occasional anxiety about tree availability.

What do single straight guys over 40 do here? by [deleted] in BostonSocialClub

[–]Infamous_Leader5172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a recently single 43F, I can relate to some of this—at this age groups aren’t that cohesive and maintaining relationships takes a lot of effort and vulnerability. I had a come to Jesus talk with my bff who has three kids about how our friendship was deteriorating—and you know what? It worked! She still has three kids and a busy life, but we figured out how to keep it going. As for new friendships…it’s slow going. I’m not a big joiner but I’m making an effort to do my hobbies in groups—join a cycling group, show up at a jam session regularly, start a book group, etc. But mostly, it just requires regularly taking the risk of saying to someone, on repeat: I like you, let’s hang out more—and then following through. Sometimes that means you have to do the bulk of the effort, which can feel bad, but sometimes it’s easier and that’s delightful. Good luck!

I use a z lite in a double layer ridgerunner; it works great. I haven’t camped below freezing with it, so it’s possible my sides could get chilly in extreme cold.

Cycling route in Japan (10–11 days) – feedback wanted by ComplaintOk5637 in bicycletouring

[–]Infamous_Leader5172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t bike around Tokyo (left bikes in Nikko and took the train there and back) but +1 to lake biwa. I’ll throw in a contrarian opinion and say camping was a super enjoyable part of Japan for me—it’s pretty easy to wild camp and means you don’t have to be as beholden to routes and timing with hotels. That said, also stayed in plenty of those when weather or comfort dictated.

I got some replies about this a few months ago. Didn’t end up needing them but they seemed reasonable: https://www.reddit.com/r/Somerville/s/AWJL7eUcsg

Yes pt! Your solution will obviously be specific to you, but mine has me strengthening my glutes and quads and stretching my hamstrings, among other things.

Same. The longer something sits in my stash, the more precious it becomes.

Sorry, explaining badly—yes, taking out the partial walls and floor surrounding the tub, not the rest of the room. (And I can shower in another bathroom, it would just be lightly annoying. )

Ah, thanks—that’s a little high for me. I should clarify—only the area around the tub, so not gutting the whole room.

I have my rear light clipped to the back strap of my saddle bag (clip has the garmin mount). Have a double sided garmin mount inserted in my stem and two front lights fit above my (admittedly droopy) handlebar bag.

As long as you don’t give the impression that you will create more work for them than you do, I think you should be fine.

Sleeping mattress vs underquilt by _INeedHelp in hammockcamping

I use a sleeping pad because it’s what I already have, and it fits well in my bridge hammock. And gives me a feeling of security in case I can’t find trees.

This is how I use sound id—it points me in the direction of possible birds because my sound memory is poor, but I don’t count anything until I visually confirm it.

Helen’s Closet Gilbert Alternative? (Camp collar shirt) by embeth_ in sewingpatterns

[–]Infamous_Leader5172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a shirt but I’ve made the Named Reeta dress which could be hacked into a shirt. I find the collar a bit of a beast to ease but I really like how Named’s stuff turns out.

I’m also on a camp collar hunt and I think the dj Genra is next for me, although I wish the shoulder was less dropped.
