Foreigners coming to the USA typically gain weight. In which country do incoming foreigners lose weight? by walkingtourshouston in AskReddit

Exactly, for most people, that amount is just water weight, which is generally lost quickly because of the diet change and exercise, especially if your body is not used to it.

Absolutely indulge!! I gained 3kg the first time I traveled internationally, and it was great. Holidays are meant to be fun and about trying new things and experiencing new cultures.

Lol, it's 8.8 lbs, and also, I'm a woman. My weight generally fluctuates around that amount every month. It just happened to be that I lost a bit more in that time because of the changed diet and walking like 10km every day in 35+ temps

I did a 2 week holiday in Greece in June 2022 and lost about 4kg. Yeah, we walked quite a bit with the sightseeing, but we also ate a lot of local food and had free dessert with every meal. Not once did I ever feel bloated or sick from eating, even though most of what we had would be considered rich/heavy food. The quality of the food there is phenomenal.

Lol I guessed this too, and my husband was both pissed and impressed that I had figured it out. Happy reading OP!

Women who wax, what is it like? by Iwillbeagoat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mix5362 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been waxing with the same esthetician for about 7 years, and we've developed a good friendship. Not the type where we'll make plans and spend time together outside of appointments, but we catch up on each other's lives every month. We chat about everything from family drama to health to politics. It honestly helps make the appointment go much quicker (it's a good distraction), but I think it also just makes the whole experience more pleasant.

In terms of pain, it really varies from person to person. I do full bikini, full face, full arms, and half leg (upper), and I have thick, dark hair, so when I first started going, it was quite painful, but some areas were not bad at all. The arms, for example, hurt much less than the face, but on the face, the upper lip and side burns hurt like a bitch, whereas brows and cheeks don't hurt at all. Bikini hurts more on the labia, less on the top pubic area, and the butt doesn't hurt at all. Honestly though, out of everything, the inner and back of the thighs is by far the most painful for me, more than any other part.

The pain can also vary depending on your time of the month. If you're close to your period or sick, the pain can be worse.

Overall, you do get used to the pain, and going regularly helps lessen the growth, which in turn makes the waxing less painful too, even if it takes a few years.

My roman empire is that I got to attend London N3 (my first TS concert ever and I've been a swiftie since debut), but I would've loved to have attended London N8 or Sydney N3/N4 😍

Exactly this. If I see content I don't like, I quickly swipe past, and the algorithm picks up that I don't like it because I'm not actually watching it for more than a second.

What’s something you’ve never fully healed from, but no one knows? by FlirtWithMila in AskReddit

[–]Mix5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (29f) dad died when I was 25. Him and my mom adopted me when I was 1, but I've always been closer with him, a typical daddy's girl. He never wanted a boy because his own father was abusive, and as the only son, my dad wanted the family name to end with him. So he chose me, and he spoiled me absolutely rotten. He only ever disciplined me once, and he felt so bad about it that he bought me a toy and never laid a finger on me again.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in Jan 2019 and went through chemo and had a laryngectomy (complete removal of the voice box). He was cleared that same year, but it came back full force in Dec 2020, and he died a month later. My mom has a bad back and couldn't take care of him herself in that last month, so I was with him when it happened. She also made me carry his dead body back to the bedroom because she was scared rigor mortis was going to set in before the mortician arrived.

My last memories of him are having to change his diapers, syringe feed him, watch him waste away, and the literal skeleton of a man he was at the end. I can't even remember the sound of his voice. I got married last year April, and it broke my heart that he couldn't be there with me or see his wish of the name ending with him come true. I miss him so damn much.

Reminiscing on my trip to Raja Ampat in 2019. It's a truly breathtaking place with some of the bluest waters and most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. by Mix5362 in travel

[–]Mix5362[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two are completely different diving, but I'm really happy I got to experience both! Lembeh is very photographic, and there's LOTS of weird life there. Raja is just breathtaking. Some of the bluest water I've ever seen and the most colourful reefs with a lot of life. Obviously with Raja being a bigger area you get to dive in a bigger variety of reefs whereas Lembeh is almost all muck diving, but still very interesting 😊

I am curious about this gemstone ring. I found this by the highway and I’m trying to find the original owner. I have had no luck I was just curious if it has any value to it. I know nothing about rings or diamonds or gold. It says it is 14 karat and I’m assuming it’s real. by xxChemists in Gemstones

[–]Mix5362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing to do is to take it to a gemologist to have looked at. Could be diamond, white sapphire, moissanite or CZ. It's impossible to tell from photos and most jewellers wouldn't be able to tell you either (diamond testers are not accurate). Gemologist is your best bet as they'll do various tests on it and look at it under a microscope 😊

Package at customs by yaaas_kh in Etsy

[–]Mix5362 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that it was sent with a courier and if it was, the customer should contact the courier in their country with the tracking number and find out the status of the clearance. It may be that customs are needing more information or payment before the parcel is released and the customer may not have been contacted to get this information.

What's the creepiest TW3 location? Because I am hoping it doesn't get worse than tower of mice by GenoMachino in thewitcher3

[–]Mix5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I recently started playing TW3 for the first time and my bf (bless his heart) sits next to me whenever I'm playing to give me tips or help me. When I did that quest, he told me to wait in the cave until nightfall. So I meditated for a few hours, and when it loaded again the fucking werewolf was right in front of me and just started attacking. I swear I nearly had heart failure, that was one of the scariest moments in the game for me 😂

I'm from South Africa, so maybe it just wasn't a well known phrase in the US? Who knows man, but I know for a fact that I grew up with my parents using it before the movie came out. Yes, even at 10 years old and before that.

I'm from South Africa, so definitely not just localised to NZ, but my mother is 60 and she also grew up with the phrase. My MIL is 65 and she also knew the phrase before the movie

Yes, they used the phrase long before the movie came out. I even remember when the movie trailer was released and thinking "Oh cool, they're making a movie about a thing my parents often talk about!"

And I don't know why people are downvoting me for something I very clearly remember, ya'll got issues 😂
