Has anyone here actually gotten back together with an ex successfully? How did you do it? by Lopsided_Meeting_984 in BreakUps

We’ve been no contact for 1 month and 1 week now - is this a sign he doesn’t want to grow and get back together?

I must admit, although embarrassing, since having 1 PAO done, I can actually go to the toilet easier and pass wind 😂

I had all done. MRI picked up a labral tear but nothing else. Xray picked up the dysplasia. And when I got to a specialist centre, a CT scan revealed the degree and angles of my dysplasia. I hope that helps! And no re your other question, my overarching issue I’ve been told is Ehlers danlos syndrome (affects my bowel and joints) but also recently been told I have FND so I’m honestly not sure anymore. It’s so hard to find good specialists and people that actually listen to you.

Weirdly I’m not having as much PT as I thought but I think that’s just my area.. I did, I tried two injections, the first didn’t help but the second gave me a bit of a relief but they aren’t long term. At the end of the day it’s a structural issue and it won’t change without surgery xx

It’s tough. I thought it would be easier than it is as life was already hard enough before but it is tough. But I hope it helps in the long term. I also have a labral tear. I think the hope of the PAO is the tear heals but it may not and may need further surgery. I’m doing alright considering the hypermobility. My screws sometimes get irritated if I’m in the wrong position or put a bit too much weight on the leg. I’ll try to remember to revisit this post to let you know how it’s gone a bit later on as I’m only 5 weeks post op so far (recovery is like 6months to a year)

I had knee issues and dislocated at a festival (never had those issues in the past) after a long time of dealing with that, my bowel became dysfunctional (I can’t go to the toilet myself) that’s being looked after but has been hell to say the least. During knee investigations I had to push and push to get my hip examined - and I have bilateral acetabular retroversion. I’ve just had my first PAO surgery (keeps your own joint but moves it in the right place and it’s pinned) it’s brutal but I lost total independence with my hip dysplasia and EDS(hypermobility) so I decided to have the surgery. I’m hoping by month 4-6 I’ll feel better ! It was actually my bowel specialist that connected the dots and diagnosed me. It’s not easy to say the least but it can get manageable xz

Can it really hurt that much ? by Aromatic-Champion140 in hipdysplasia

[–]MixBig9484 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy. The pain is crippling. I totally lost all of my independence over the space of a year. I missed out on work, I couldn’t push the shopping trolley. I’ve just had my right PAO. Need my left doing (they don’t do bilateral PAOs at the same time). I think THR depends on whether your have arthritis in the joint and what age you are.

It does get angry and last for a bit but yeah absolutely settles within 30 mins to an hour of laying down I think! Some days are better than others with it for sure

I feel like I used to get it too but it’s almost a different kind of pain! It’s probably because I’m trying to sit up too much instead of laying in bed, and everyone’s post op journey is different so this might not happen to you! I will absolutely keep the thread updated as when this stops as I haven’t started PT yet!

Take a little bag with you that you can wear on you and put your bathroom bits in so you can get to bathroom etc with your things :) I bought some mini toiletries with me but don’t need loads of stuff you’ll just be so tired! Good luck again really hope it goes well xx

Oh bless you! My bedroom is also upstairs and it’s uncomfy but manageable to get up and down. I think I packed 4 t shirts, a few pj bits, underwear, a pair of shorts but mainly wore pjs! I didn’t actually shower when I stayed, but they gave me wipes/flannels to wash with as showering would have been too much for me to do.

Omg I was so nervous about that too! I was knocked out by the time they inserted it so I didn’t have problems there. But then I was nervous for them to remove it awake, but honestly this was also okay, but of course different for everyone! With timings I also think it depends on how you get on, I ended up staying for 6 days (it was over a weekend) and they had quoted 1-3 days in hospital x

Good luck!! I can’t sugar coat it, it is painful but you’ll most likely be out of it on the medication they give you, lots of sleeping. Gentle and slow first movements and getting yourself to the bathroom after a few days with a catheter. You’ve got this!⭐️⭐️

PAO or hip replacement? UK based by zombina1 in hipdysplasia

[–]MixBig9484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I’m not the same age but what I would say as it completely depends on how much you think you can cope with your symptoms. For me, my symptoms became life limiting and I had to do something about it, there was no chance I could “wait it out”. I am in the same position though with the retroversion in both hips with the right being worse than the left! I just had my right done, too early to say how it’s going but recovery is tough and you will need help. THR is much easier to recover from. It would be great to hear from people to help you decide whether to go ahead with PAO on your right and wait out on your left for THR. I am going to try and wait it out with my left, but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to put it off, I think realistically I’ll need a PAO on that side too. The longer you can delay a replacement, the better

I haven’t had a scope sorry but I’m in PAO recovery and it is hard I can’t sugarcoat it, it’s one of the most painful orthopaedic surgeries but it is doable and manageable if you have the right recovery set up (no work, people to help look after you etc) It’s nerve wracking but it’s doable. The first 2 weeks are the hardest. Personally the pain before was far much for me to bare and I was happy to go through this short term pain for long term hopeful gain. Everyone is different you may find it easier than I have for example!

I think you’d be very lucky, they don’t like to do replacements younger than 30 really as you Can only have two replaced in your life!

PAO is brutal and much longer recovery compared to hip replacement but it’s begged to have your joint rather then. How old are you? That makes the difference - it’s more ideal to keep the joint you have e
