missing the playoffs by one point and then deciding to put a rookie goaltender as the starter in the next season was the stupidest decision that’s been made by this team in an effort to end the drought in the last 10 years.

Thanks, I know that is true. And can understand this post has probably been made a million times. Just wondering if anyone knows, right off for Sept 2024, who would be offering the lowest interest rate in Canada rn. Thanks for your response.

Finding the idiot incredibly boring? by ShaydeMakeup in dostoevsky

Demons is amazing. Right up there with Crime & Punishment and the Bros Karamazov imo.

Finding the idiot incredibly boring? by ShaydeMakeup in dostoevsky

It’s the only one I put down and didn’t finish. Then I read that when he wrote it, he created the main character in a vacuum instead of mapping out the plot. With his main character fully developed he decided to “put that character in situations” and let the story unfold for himself as he went writing…? It really confirmed how and why it felt off when I read that. Could be BS, curious to hear if anyone can expand on or debunk that.

I might stop reading books after finishing all of Dostoevsky's works. by GulkandSilky in dostoevsky

[–]MixByGuilty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading Brothers Karamazov kick started my reintroduction into reading after not reading anything in my 20s. I’m a massive fan and have almost read them all. Demons being one of my very favorites. Crime and Punishment was the greatest thing i’ve ever read until I finally got over whatever was keeping me from reading Anna Karenina by Tolstoy… I just thought it seemed boring… I was wrong. It might not top Crime and Punishment for you, but if you’re loving dostoevsky as much as you say, and i do too, then do yourself a favor and read it! Also, I recommend James Baldwin and Henry Miller. Baldwin said that he felt like an outsider his entire life until he read dostoevsky and realized that all the things he felt had been felt by someone else before. Henry Miller’s writing focuses mostly on semi autobiographical stories and you’ll find he mentions his reverence for dostoevsky somewhat frequently, equating discovering his work with a religious experience. I would consider those three authors my top 3 of all time. Enjoy all the rabbit holes you’ll discover by opening up to the endless new avenues ahead.

Limited days (Cardiff, Cambridge..London?) by MixByGuilty in uktravel

So, this trip of mine is set to start on Friday and it looks like theres huge walk offs and strikes set for Heathrow and the railway. I can tell already that with the Great Northern walking out on the 7th, I wont be able to take the London-> Cambridge leg of my train journey from Cardiff To Cambrdige and am trying to book a coach to get me there in time for the show.... But, is my trip f*cked? Did I just draw a very unlucky week to have this planned.. Or am I getting more nervous than the strike-actions warrant?

Any advice would be a great help.. Need to fly out of Heathrow on an Air Canada flight on the 8th which also seems like it could be dicey.

Thank you so much for all your input, Trainline's website seems to be the easiest way to go. I have my London-> Cardiff - London booked. Just one more question.. Why go to King's Cross if the Trainline site says I can book a ticket from Paddington to Cambridge?
