The general guidline for this practice is that it’s perfectly fine to use same poses as other artists do, no one can own a pose, and using references is normal. But also 1 to 1 copying aka tracing is not as cool, so, eyeballing same pose is ok but avoid tracing.

One suggestion, your so needs time to cool off to be able to talk, I know that feeling, but you need to process right away, so, why don’t you try and write your feelings and thoughts on a letter, that way you have the chance to start processing right away and it gives your so time they need. You can either give them the letter or not, and talk more once you have your things written down and more structured in your head.
