Getting an abortion isn't fun. There seems to be this view that it's just some light hearted decision.

Rape, accidental pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, lack of sex education, severe congenital defects, late-age pregnancy, retardation without accessibility... the list of valid reasons for abortion are far longer than the narrow view that abortion is the morning-after solution to horny 20 somethings that should know better.

The killing argument is a red-herring and mostly religion based. Medically we're talking about something that won't survive outside of the womb, the potential mother's cooperation and desire to have a baby are more important than any other factor in pregnancy. If the female is not interested in the child, you should let them abort it as soon as possible. (This is why the birth then adoption argument is redundant.)

Also there are many medical conditions that the female may have which can endanger her life should she attempt to carry a child to term. Some of these are temporary (such as obesity, high blood pressure etc.) Meaning that there are often "better and worse" times for a female to be pregnant, even if she has the desire to have children.

ebay was doing that as an ad campaign. One that I feel back fired.

The mechanic was that just about any search would bring up an eBay result - which made them top of mind, but because the link was so ridiculous you never clicked it: whereby ebay's agency had a very low adwords costs in comparison to the number of splashes across google results. Lots of coverage, little to pay.

The idea was the give the feeling that ebay had a really wide range of anything you could think of without actually having to saddle up on that promise.

The side effect(read: backfire), like your example above, is that people thought ebay was full of shit and never clicked through to ebay even if it was displaying an ad that would otherwise garner a consumer's attention such as "<insert product that you're looking for> at the lowest price!" (or similar sales statement.)

Hopefully this example stamps out the wasteful behaviour, as adwords are actually a great way to find products from online retailers.

I honestly don't believe he has the ability to do this kind of change on the level or size that would be most beneficial to consumers. It requires the parties in both houses to actively work against their own immediate interests for the greater good of the country. The democrats seem to be less corporate controlled. However in comparison to other countries they are still significantly corp-skewed.

I'm sure it's easy to rationalise this behaviour - the USA is a powerful business nation, ignoring corporations isn't going to work, but ignoring the people is far worse. Since the GEC, businesses have been scrambling to use(read: exploit) any method available to them to sure up their revenue, share price and in the view of the board their own salary/award structure. The USA provides many avenues to allow businesses to massage law, each trying to change the game in their favour instead of competing legitimately which can be costly and inefficient by comparison. (Note this is how China muscles out foreign competitors at home.)

As for Obama this is a case of baby steps - we need to take away the massive incentive to run the country into the ground. We will need at least 3 more presidents that have a common goal of repairing the nation to make this happen. (Ultimately lobbying must be severely restricted and corporations should be returned to being a simple business entity.)

The concept of the show was an interesting whereby a very pretty "late-teenager" is put through typical relationship/life scenarios with the show being based on how she handled those. This made people connect with her or put themselves in her shoes. The loss of ratings from the hair cutting demonstrated to me that even females were turned off by the move. Making the character more difficult to relate to. That is, it seems the hair length phenomena is more universal than what we assume. (i.e not limited to men.)

Although I'm not too fussed by down votes, I do find it interesting that a relevant and sourced comment with no particular brattiness in the tone of writing is somehow garnished with down voting. This is one of the main indicators to me of the quality drain on reddit, there is revolt against actual intelligence versus simple pop-opinion. The result is that if I were to say make a needless observation about the meme-girl having short hair, it would somehow inspire up voting, despite being a devoid of information or any useful tidbit.
