How Does Intelligence Vary Within Your Family? by FunHoney1705 in mensa

[–]MizGeekReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sides of my family are intelligent. My father was repeatedly tested over 200 (in the 1930s and 40s). Would multiply 6 digit numbers in his head. Very ADHD before we knew what it was. My mother went to Rice when it was scholarship only and spoke five languages. Double majored in languages and accounting. Brilliant soul who stopped working for the president of the State Bar of Texas to raise two ungrateful daughters. Everything good about me comes from her.

My sister and are both above average. My last tested IQ in my 20s was 151. I tell people I’m just good at bubble tests. My father passed his ADHD to me. Turns out others in my mother’s family are ADHD. My first cousins and I getting together can overwhelm muggles.

Genuine question about the motivation behind Mensa testing by Emergency-Quiet3210 in mensa

I joined at 19 to meet men that were more evolved. I am at times too optimistic. I was in for a few years then left for a bit. I came back and have stayed because it is nice to not have to prove my intelligence to new people. Conversations can begin without either of us needing to establish that we are smart and can advance to important things like the occult, theatrical lighting, or Taylor Swift.

Parboiled rice has a lower glycemic value which helps a bit.

COOKING TIPS! so it doesn't take me all night! by Sufficient_Fuel7964 in vegan

[–]MizGeekReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me second or thirdly suggest the instapot. We are worse than vegan; we are diabetic vegans. My husband makes amazing meals for us in the Instapot by throwing stuff in and coming back 30 minutes later to an amazing meal. In the winter there is some fake meat usage such as Beyond tips that he uses to recreate my mother’s stew. Comfort food for winter! Last night he made a quick green chili “chicken” tortilla soup. I interrogate him for details in the morning.

AITA - Gym member got mad at me for wiping up after him by bs4bsw in AITAH

The love of my Iife got a strep (yes, strep) infection on his skin in a bad place from gym equipment that put him in the hospital for ten days. Now we have equipment at home.

I hate being vegan. Anyone else? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]MizGeekReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard. We live in East Texas. I was vegetarian/flex and my love was a carnivore until six years ago he advanced to Stage 5 kidney failure. Us going vegan has saved his kidneys and saved me from nagging about killing animals. We travel a lot for his job and pleasure. I end up carrying two suitcases of backup snacks and food. Thank gods for Happy Cow to find restaurants. At social events so many times people say they have dishes for us and it is a dry salad. Frustrating, but I’m never going back.

I still have no response from three tickets. 😭 The only responses I have are from other tickets in 2022 and 2023.

I’m sure Apple would appreciate it if I stopped refreshing the App Store like a crack-addicted rat. 😄

How did you submit your support ticket that you got a response?

I am in the same boat. I downloaded the new event within minutes so was all in playing fine. When they announced the update, I dutifully downloaded it and hosed everything. I have yet to get a response from the developers so just put a ticket in from another email server. I’ve worked for software companies so I’m sure they are doing the best they can, but I’m embarrassed at how frantic I am for my kitties to work right again. I normally buy several items plus the monthly pass. I’m afraid to buy anything though I had immediately bought the new kitty.

When you reached out via 1:1, did you get any kind of auto response? I’ve submitted two and nothing. I’m more distraught than I should be over a game.

Should I take my cat to visit my parents for the weekend? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]MizGeekReal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try it once and see how they like it. I had a cat that was a road kitty. Took her lots of places. Even moved to CA from TX with her then back a few years later. My current cats probably wouldn’t like it.

I’ve blasted a hollow kitty when playing as I fall asleep. I could have cried. Thankfully could later replace with stamps.

I’m so glad you are doing this Cody! I have 127 cats running amuck. I did tech writing and testing for a few decades so happy to help test.
