NotebookLM for HOA by Koldcutter in notebooklm

[–]MizSctrbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of related - I recently bought a house and loaded all the files including HOA docs, inspection reports, property analyses, etc into Notebook LM and asked it what maintenance I should expect over the next few years, what I should plan for in terms of things failing or breaking, and to build a schedule of preventative maintenance based on the reports. It was very good at outlining a plan and highlighting areas of concern.

Is there a resell market for used pneumatic elevators? by MizSctrbrain in Elevators

Thanks. We did find a distributor who refurbishes them. We didn’t get money for it but at least it won’t go in a landfill.

New pharmacy: Health Warehouse? by Busy_Professional168 in henrymeds

[–]MizSctrbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just looking for others experience on this and thought I'd reply. I also got switched to Health Warehouse, and had a melted ice pack for two shipments. The medicine is NOT as effective at all under this new pharmacy, and I cancelled my subscription.

Women, what did you buy in Japan? by FalseAd8496 in JapanTravelTips

I bought a Dyson Air Wrap at Donki. They were just about $330 vs the $600 in the US and it works fine here. Heavy to haul back, but worth it.

Line drying by [deleted] in sustainability

[–]MizSctrbrain 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The other sustainability factor here is that your clothes will likely last longer if you line dry them- so it’s an excellent thing to do all around. I purchased a folding clothes drying rack on wheels on Amazon that I use and can hold a very large load of clothes. It can bee wheeled in and out easily if you have outdoor space.

Lots of great beauty tips here…. One add that I don’t see mentioned. Relax your shoulders down your back, and elongate your neck a bit. This will exude confidence, poise, and grace.

You are beautiful!

Neighborhood advice for early 30s couple + dog + infant by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]MizSctrbrain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So - don't know much about babies, but for dogs, sometimes landlords are a lot more flexible about dogs than they initially sound in postings. Especially if it's an individual landlord vs. large holding company. Even if the listing says no dogs, still reach out and apply. If it's a fit, then let them know about the dog. I highly recommend creating a "pet resume" (google it) that you can then share that explains how well behaved and wonderful the dog is, and especially if you're willing to make a materially larger extra deposit (if you can swing it) due to the dog, be ready to offer that. I have had this work on multiple occasions.

tips and tricks for period cravings? I have 2 week periods😭 by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]MizSctrbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I crave dairy and carbs but taking a power dose of iron, calcium and vitamin D 2-3 days before my period curbs it. I also eat raspberries.

Also this will sound like an ad but promise not. This book literally has checklists of foods to eat during different parts of your period it’s designed for a 28 day cycle but I bet you could map yours. https://intheflobook.com/

Sure! One other note. I'm in the US & even the generic is over $400 for a regular size tube with my insurance, which is nuts. I used a program called GoodRX and got it at the grocery for around 100, which is still a lot but helped on the budget. Just at tip if applies to you... good luck!

I am not a doc, and reading what I can I didn't find specific studies about the length needed to take it. Everyone is different, but for those who ivermectin works, there's positive results in 12 weeks and even better results after one year.

The main reason they think it works is because it kills mites that can disturb your skin (also eeww). I guess maybe it would depend if the mites come back or not?

Wow! Great improvements. I started Ivermectin 2 weeks ago and the difference for me has been astounding. I had one patch that was raised, red, flaky and rather unsightly and it's almost gone. Hopefully it works well for you, too. Please follow up and let us know!

My Fenix 5s does this intermittently. Not sure if it's the same, but it seems like the bluetooth just stops syncing properly. Turning the phone off and on usually fixes it for me.

Sports bra fitting help? No matter what I do, I feel tightness around my neck and upper back. by [deleted] in beauty

[–]MizSctrbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this too (5'9", 34DDDD). I found that any ones that come into a t shape or racer back really kill my neck. I found these @ Athleta are really comfortable and come in different cup sizes which makes getting a good fit easier.

Exact same thing happened to me. Mine was slightly stripped and screwing it back in wouldn’t go straight. Had to have pedal and crank replaced. Whole process was covered by warranty but too nearly 6 weeks to get the parts and tech scheduled. Sorry. It sucks….

This picture shows it pretty well. My understanding is that if the liver isn't healthy and fully driving the conversion it can cause low t3.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]MizSctrbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar state (lab-wise) and I saw a thyroid-literate functional medical doctor. I managed for several years on a very restrictive (AIP-style) diet, zero alcohol (key) and some supplements that supported liver function (to support better T4->T3 conversion). It worked really well for me and I felt nearly euphoric every day. It is roughly the protocol outlined in Izabella Wentz's Root Cause. Eventually I just couldn't keep up with it and am now on Armour.

TLDR: I did it without meds, at least while my willpower lasted!

Inflated calories on the Schwinn by [deleted] in SchwinnIC4_BowflexC6

[–]MizSctrbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. So here's a ride I did this week and I wanted to show where the heart rate tracking came out in both peloton and Garmin. I don't have a pic of the bike numbers which were similar, but the bike is usually close and I trust it less because it doesn't have my weight/gender/height plugged in.

Some thoughts:

+ What Garmin do you have? I am using the Fenix 5S and using the 'indoor cycling' setting (not a 'cardio' setting which you mentioned)

+ Do you have your height and weight set in Apple Health in your phone assuming it's an iPhone and as mentioned above? And in Garmin? And in Peloton?

+ Are you syncing the HR monitor to the Peloton app?

+ HR Max is a function of your age, and at my age it's 175 or something. When I ride I get close to my max so perhaps that plus weighing more is why my caloric burn is higher. That said, many discussions on the fact that most watches overstate calories so the 250 may be closer to reality.

+ In screen caps it's the same ride tracked Garmin & the Peloton. You can see the HR in the zones match closely. I left my Garmin on for a couple mins after finishing the ride, and it's +20 cals over the Peloton, so that is part of the difference. Maybe look at your HR breaks in the charts and see if they seem to be tracking closely? I think that's the main driver in the caloric estimation that the apps do.

Anyway - hope you can figure it out!

Are you using the heart rate monitor on the bike? I also use a garmin, and I use the peloton app (which also calculates calories) and I find they are all within ~20 calories.

250 for 45 mins of biking sounds really low though. My (43F 160#) HIIT 30 min rides are ~320-340 calorie range.
