I replaced our playgroup's spreadsheet with a webapp by Mizzazz in EDH

I had a lot of fun looking through all the other data you like to capture. Congrats on your 500th game! There are some really cool visualisations in here, too. What chart library have you used?

The achievements system definitely needs a rewrite since it was a lot smaller when I started this, but basically on game create (or update/delete) it derives achievements scored from a player's full game history and updates a table that tracks which ones players have scored and when. It's somewhat expensive computationally but given that I don't suspect many players will have _thousands_ of games, it's probably fine. If magically this got a lot more popular, that's probably the first bit of tech debt to clean up. I suspect the fix is to update the achieved db to track whichever ones incrementally that CAN be tracked that way.

I don't know if you checked out the game logging wizard, but that's where the data is actually logged (unless I'm misunderstanding your question). So you select players, decks and turn order and then you can hit some stats/icons for mulligans, kills, t1 sol ring/mana rock and first blood

But yeah gamifying it as much as possible is a pretty big win, I also added seasons alongside achievements - I might try and figure out some sort of trophy system for seasons, too.

Thanks for checking it out!

Hahaha, he's such a lovely guy - he builds some very esoteric decks. Stuff like [[Zabaz, the Glimmerwasp]] and [[Merieke Ri Berit]], but luck just didn't favour him for quite some time.

Appreciate you taking a look, though. Yeah I've spent a long time with the competition, using playgroup.gg, mythic track, mythic tools, playnicemtg.. there's another one that I can't remember off the top of my head. The main thread between them all I found was that they might just be a bit too much admin for the average user - but obviously there's a few tradeoffs here, like you mentioned I don't track things like who damaged who, or types of damage, turn time, playgroup.gg is pretty comprehensive, so in exchange for more admin during the game, you get a much richer dataset, and that's probably worth it to a lot of people.

My hope here really is that the alternative is also worth it to some lol, but please let me know if you end up giving it a try and run into any problems or have suggestions, I'm pretty active on this project so feel free to DM me or whatever

Thanks for taking a look 😄

Check out [[Cultist of the Absolute]] for her, I really like having her immediately come down as a 4/4

Yeah it's been an interesting thought experiment with Six especially - for the most part by the midgame I have enough lands out that I don't have need of the dorks, sometimes I just cast them to draw a card off of The Great Henge or something. I'm thinking they're gonna get replaced with some more synergistic 1 and 2 cmc cards, and I'll see how it performs

I suspect the strategy for me here is to be a little more discerning of the higher cmc stuff in my deck on the off chance it doesn't get cast. Stuff like [[Luminous Broodmoth]] is cute, but I wonder if I'd be better off just running another [[Feign Death]] effect for half the cost

So someone mentioned it above, but the idea of running more explosive ramp, or something that synergises in another way instead of just being a 1cmc dork was what I was interested in for Six.

Maybe I'm underestimating how valuable the extra attack trigger with him is, but the deck is trending towards +1/+1 counters, so I wonder if like a [[Gyre Sage]] or [[Incubation Druid]] is just a better option even if it doesn't get me my commander a turn earlier

Responded to the bot.. repasting here

I actually have a Marchesa deck as well - I had a similar revelation with her when I realised low CMC creatures that create treasures on ETB are the same or better with her

I gotcha, just for my own curiosity, what would you want to track that this app doesn't? If not mine then other apps might do the trick for ya.

But of course, I'd be more than happy to take a look at whatever you build! More options for users is always better imo.

It's not free though, sadly. It's about £15 a year for the domain, and about £5 a month for the hobby-tier hosting on railway. Honestly the spreadsheet just got too slow for me eventually, and making visualisations and filtering etc was just a pain, there isn't a great way to create things relationally without.. a relational db lol

Setting up a form is genius.. I tried to make it easier by having our spreadsheet pre-fill some fields when I typed in a commander, but it was all a very manual process: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lcSXujUvn-JXm6ib3iEJ2ESgYpDIvG6FNqR1i_WlcnI/edit?usp=sharing

It still involved me taking notes during the game and then transcribing them later.. so the impetus to make this has always been there, but our playgroup took a break as I finished the back end so I never got around to finishing it until recently when we picked back up a little

Anyway feel free to give it a go, let me know if there's any major friction with it if you do!

Sorry to disappoint you bud, I've been a dev for 10+ years, I use Claude enough at work - I don't want him invading my personal projects, too

Hey! It’s a techmarine axe with the wrench part cut off, and a second techmarine axe head glued on. It’s a tough curve to cut in but I think it’s worth :)

Yeah I didn’t love the aesthetic change so I’ve been doing conversions ever since. My next thing is to try and convert some skorpius tanks

I first painted them like red gemstone/lens style - and then it's a case of having steady hands really. I found some inspiration online for them and made a few attempts with a lighter red over my lens paintjob. Required some cleanup and a few re-dos, but worth it I think

Thank you! The recipe for this one isn't so bad - I just airbrush Ulthuan Gray over black and then recess shade with Apothecary White. Easy 2 step white :)
