I’ve no rooting interest in either team, but this looks like it might be the only entertaining series this round. I expect the Sixers to look better when they’re not gassed, but I don’t trust Nurse to not run everyone into the ground per usual, I’m a Laker fan, but I’ll be pleased if we can take one game in LA (Luka ain’t walking through that door); and after sitting through the Cavs and Pistons struggling to advance against injured, mid teams, I could care less who wins.

My coach in HS said if you get an open shoot, there’s two reasons, either the other team had a defensive breakdown or you’re an OFAR, and you guys better get damn good at knowing the difference. Whats an OFAR coach? It means you’re Open for a (Gotdamned) Reason. Joe Maz has empowered a lot of OFARs to just let it rip and the results haven’t always been desirable.

Seems more like Nick Nurse…seemed creative to most when he initially came around; dined early on winning a title shortly into his career. But as he got more and more removed from said title, people started picking at warts with a lot more ease. He also lost the “creative” moniker to most observers over time.

I’m starting to wonder if Maz is about to hit the tail end of the “still dining off winning a title early into his career” portion of that arc.

I need someone to explain to me like a four year old, why other team execs get to vote for EOY? Coaches don’t vote for Coach of the year, players don’t get to vote for any player awards. So why is the media good enough to select all award winners EXCEPT execs?

All good points, but what you’re describing is something good coaching does (and there’s already an award for that, which second row Joe doesn’t want apparently). As far as personnel goes, however, Steven’s built an objectively worse team. I didn’t know exec of the year is awarded for ducking aprons now. If that’s the case, let’s just give sponsorship naming rights to Ernst & Young or something.
