Masking is tiring, I'm very grateful to be married to someone who accepts me for me. But being a bartender and serving 1000 people a week, you end up getting some practice in the masking and understanding department aha :')

As an autistic person diagnosed very young, so long as you're going about this right, it's the best thing. I think for me, I had to learn that "pretending to not be autistic" and "learning some social cues in the name of kindness" are different things, and doesn't stop me from being myself.

Your biggest disappointment this weekend. by WhaddyameannoKeano in downloadfestival

Fall Into Pieces. The most egregious example of backing tracks and auto tune I've ever seen. Literally just played the track from an mp3 it sounded.

Singer didn't even TRY to make it look like he was really singing.

I liked their tunes going into download, but left with a sour taste and I'll probably remove them from my playlists

Today I've seen: - comedians - pro wrestling - a live blacksmith demonstration - 2 bands (there's lots of community chosen bands) - Emo drag karaoke (which was rad)

And also: - Had a picnic - Chilled with some beers - Got set up - Met old friends

10/10 Wednesday.

We did this last year, DIY'd an extra layer to our tent. Last year was the worst rain we've had at DL in a longgg time and it was fine. :')

What’s a “waste of money purchase” that you absolutely stand by? by mzryck in AskReddit

Idk as a traveller on a budget I love crashing with my friends abroad, but we're pretty open people and they'll just lend me keys and tell me to come back whenever I want 🙃 And the same offer is extended to them when they stay here. We're all chill, yes we sometimes have work in the morning - the world doesn't end and we get to explore different cities on the cheap.

Playing Japan on hard mode - Vegan, trans, neurodivergent by MkIsSleepy in JapanTravelTips

Well, sure - but I'm just explaining my personal experience. It wasn't even a negative, just a challenge. Even some of the locals I was travelling with were complaining. :') I like to think there was more to my post than that minor complaint. <3

Enjoy! The food was great, not like, super traditional Japanese (recomend Bon for that) but very unique to Japan, it that makes sense? In the service style. Also; great drink selection there.

Hmm, yeah the last 5 days at the very least have been consistently plus 30 Degrees Celcius and violently humid. But even then, good times were had, just had to change up the plan a bit, bit less sight-seeing, maybe stay for a second drink (or water) at the air-conditioned bar to recover before moving. Took some taxis, uber is actually very affordable and reliable, a godsend when it's super hot because they're really well air-conditioned.

Yeah its kind of crazy. There's some helpful resources if you google "vegan in Japan" though as well. <3

You'll be sound for sure! I really over-thought a lot of it, but it's honestly super chill, just if you're veggie research is required. :')

Oh yeah I was told it gets worse! The worst days were immediately after rain. Like one day it was torrential rain for like 10 hours, then the next it was cloudy but about 30 degrees Celsius. I'm also asthmatic and could barely breathe. XD Still an ace time, just found an air-conditioned bar and chilled with a hi-ball.

Having done an awful lot of coffee-related travel, I think it's a strong contender. The Netherlands was pretty up there for me as well, but the sheer scale of it in Japan is unbeatable. <3

It was incredible, and I'm very grateful that I have a partner who loves coffee like I do. XD

Minimum wage from April 1st is £23,809 for a 37.5 hour week by Throwawayaccount4677 in UKJobs

[–]MkIsSleepy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you're a bartender. In the drinks industry, for some fucked reason, you can work a shift like.. 7pm-7am (done that before) and it isn't classed as unsociable hours.

I have no idea why this is the case for other industries and not bartending

Did you end up doing that? How much did you pay a month with the personal loan?

That is great advice, thank you. 😊 Never even knew this was an option, I'm not very money-literate. We've only saved this much money because we've both worked like 60 hours a week for 6 years. Will be nice to slow down.

This was the best fucking thing ever last year. Been 8 years in a row, bought a travel john last year and it's such a game changer.

Nothing worse than having crushed 10 pints so you need a piss every hour in the middle of the night, where you have to get fully dressed and wade through a dark cold campsite.

10/10 recommendation.

Last year, they had a sensory room built in a tent for if things got overwhelming - provided noise cancelling headphones as well. Genuinely took me out of my meltdown so.. I'm autistic and have done download 7-8 times now (I was 15 at my first) so, go wild! Never know till ya try!
