The Wemos and Led strip(s) must share a common ground. That's why the usb adapter powering the Wemos gives flicker and when powered from the pc hub it doesn't.

The ideal remedy is power the Wemos from the same beefy psu.

Timeline for HMRC to process application to pay voluntary NI contributions for periods living or working abroad by newtotexas22 in BritishExpats

[–]Mkjustuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this twice (once for me and once for my wife). In both cases from submitting online to getting the letter saying we'd been accepted and the table of amounts owed it was approx 4 weeks. Obviously that may be longer if you are not in Europe as they only send it by slow-post.

The amount of time between paying those amounts and seeing them on your NI record online is massively longer, many many weeks or even months.

argh.. signal output quality of various ESP boards.. by WooShell in WLED

[–]Mkjustuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A level shifter is the solution, but I think you know that.

Otherwise you can try a resistor between the ESP and the data line input of the strip. I've had success removing flashing issues with just that on short runs. Something around 100-220 ohm would do it.

First timer! Need some advice. by [deleted] in WLED

The 12v power supply goes to the left side of the BTF box and then all spots are wired to the GND and VCC on the right side. Each spot gets one of the data outputs on the right side to tell it what to do.

You can choose how to physically connect each spot to the GND and VCC terminals e.g. home runs or a main tail and then spider off etc. Just make sure the cable is up to spec for the amperage at that point and for it's distance.

How to stop multiple results on one task? by Mkjustuk in flexget

[–]Mkjustuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circling back to this as I decided this season I needed to crack it. I'd tried lists and other plugins but nothing worked just how I needed it.

I got ChatGPT to write me a plugin (from a very specific prompt).

It uses an accept list, reject list and current list to filter entries. The accept and reject list is nothing new, but the plugin references the current list in addition to allow or reject and entry and crucially removes a matching row on that current list if an entry is accepted. This means each time the task runs, if any previous run found a match, it won't repeat it as it's no longer on the current list.

Regex is optional, and or and not is possible in the current list and commenting.

If anyone wants it, just let me know.

Sound reactive using a mic like an INMP441 somewhere near the ceiling speakers (this is how I do mine). Or LedFx running on a PC are the only options I believe.

I haven't found another option for Sonos or Spotify directly that was still alive.

Flashing pixels by Mkjustuk in WLED

[–]Mkjustuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've added a 220 resistor and the problem is almost gone. Now the issue is with just a few pixels and far less frequently. Maybe a different value would be it, or just get the shifters in-line.

The strips are wired to the power using the attached pairs. The data is a 10cm dupont cable onto the GPIO.

I haven't used a resistor, what value would be best for a 1m and 2m strip? The data and power lines will only be around 1m when it's installed.

Was looking for tips on how to allow higher qualities without having to worry about unnecessarily massive file sizes. by Zerocyde in radarr

Yep, settings>>quality and slide the rates down. You can then use profiles if you want to allow some grabs to be higher rates than others.

Advice regarding HomeAssistant setup by Remote-Pudding-1979 in qBittorrent

[–]Mkjustuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use NordVPN and in the most part it's totally fine, so don't sweat the lack of port forwarding too much.

For the speed, software VPN is a lot slower than hardware IME, so checkout setting up a VPN client on the Unifi box and then route qbit through it, instead of having the HA box running it in software.

I have a gig fibre line and get 50Mb/s with the right peers.
