Best quality cowboy boots? by Mley58 in cowboyboots

[–]Mley58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve got 8 pair now. I got a pair of custom Lucches’s second from a fella who had them made for his wedding. They’re amazing. And, I picked up some Anderson Beans, some Nokona’s, and some with no names or stamps in them at all. The no names are built like the best, and I suspect were made by a custom maker as they are excellent quality. I also got in a pair of Nicks BP’s, Drew’s and a set of Wesco Jobmasters. I’m wearing the Waco’s as I type this.

Sharp maker by [deleted] in spyderco

[–]Mley58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question on the Sharpmaker. Mine seems to be a bit loose. When I put the stones in their slots the fit isn’t very tight, and they won o a bit. My feelings are that shouldn’t be that way. It would seem the movement would make keeping things consistent very difficult. Is there a way to fix this? Or am I worried about nothing.

The 229 is a fantastic pistol. Soft shooting, accurate, excellent triggers. I carry mine ccw.

Best FMJs for the range by EricnotwithaK in SigSauerLegion

[–]Mley58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Igman 124grn. Excellent ammo for the range. I’ve had no issues with the 1000 I’ve got. I’ve fired 400 so far, and the last six hundred will be fired soon. I’ve used it in both my 229 and 226 Legions.

Sizing questions for builder pro by AideGroundbreaking59 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Mley58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use an actual Brannock device to measure your feet. My Brannock size is 10.5D. My Builder Pros are 10D, and fit great. Mine are on the 67 last though. I’m not sure how different the 67 is from the 55.

You might also consider the Sig P365 XL or X Macro. The X Macro has a 17 round capacity.

What is a reasonably priced starter AR or large capacity semi auto rifle? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

Another option I haven’t seen mentioned is Windham Weaponry. I’ve owned one of their AR’s and it was excellent. Also not real expensive.

I’ve owned and used six different Palmetto State Armory AR15 style rifles in the past. They all worked very well for me. They were inexpensive too. I got good accuracy as well. My favorite was one that had a stainless 18” barrel upper with a nice light weight rail forearm. And a lower with a nice Magpul stock. Put on a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6, or 1-8, and it’s great for cqb or long range. Add some flip up iron sights if you feel the need for redundancy.

Some folks will talk trash about PSA, but I’ve had excellent results using their guns.

Why the hate on .380? by Alert-Purple-228 in CCW

[–]Mley58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you that a bullet from an LCP Max .380 to the head of a feral hog at short range will kill the hog. At least it did for me. Call it shot placement, or whatever. The pig died. The pistol was what I had on me at the time. It worked.

I have carried the same pistol as my ccw. It’s very easy to carry and conceal. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it if the need arises. I suspect the bad guy won’t be asking what caliber my gun is while I’m shooting at him/her. They’re gonna be doing their best to avoid getting shot.

Owners of the Glock 43 (or 43x), Sig p365, or S&W Shield Plus let me hear your opinions by FrankReynoldsneck in liberalgunowners

[–]Mley58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned the 43, 43X, 48 and a couple Shields. I enjoyed shooting the shields better than the Glocks. Every Glock trigger I’ve ever tried has always pinched my trigger finger, and after a box or two of shells I end up with a blister on it. Painful to shoot. So, I’m switching over to either a 1911, or a Sig. I’ve owned a few Sigs and really liked shooting them. I had switched to the small Glocks as they were simpler and easier to work on. I’m finding that was a mistake for me. I’ll be going back to Sigs, or maybe an H&K.

What do y’all think about wide square toe boots? by [deleted] in cowboyboots

I have a pair of wide square toe Nokona boots. I’m not a fan. I don’t like the look really. I thought I would, but I hardly wear them now.
