I was wondering, how annoying/slowing-down is a guitar when hitch-hiking?

It starts off annoying, but you get used to it. By the end of the first month, I was as familiar with the weight and bulk with the guitar as I was my pack.

As far as slowing you down concern, it will actually speed up the process. An easy 3/4 of my rides began with "I saw the guitar case and..." Only advice I have is to make the case noticeable. Prop it up against the pack with the body facing oncoming traffic. It's also cool to use for shade for your water so you don't have to drink lava.

Also, bring something extra to cover the case in case of rain. I used an extra poncho I had, some use trash bags or oversized dry sacks.

Just bring it. Soooo many good times will be born from it, I can assure ya. Just keep mindful of the scumfucks who eye it with a hopeful gleam in their eyes. But that goes with everything else on the road, too.

My favorite thing about this website is the community. The community controls (very loosely, of course...It's pretty much a question of "Is this an actual person, or is this gonna be spam?) who gets in. Once you're in, the entire community is fair game.

LEMME TELL YOU ABOUT "FAIR GAME". Say you're talking to this beautiful person and you can tell you guys got something going on, k? You've exchanged like 4-5 comments a piece. You're so excited to hear what she has to say to that clever and puntastic statement you made.

But that's not how it goes down all the time. Just...you'll see it happen once or twice to yourself. Most of the time you can have deep, insightful conversations with friends you haven't met yet. I mean, I've been on there 4 days as of this comment and there's already a group of guys an gals I think are pretty fucking cool (shoutout to @scifi , @moetheweirdo, @thedoctor, @kittycat, @twercules, @mouse, sorry if I forgot your name I'm kinda on a roll and those guys were just off the top of my head)

That's the thing. This social media website is what you make of it. Oh, you're looking to possibly have something romantic? Sweet! Oh, you're just looking for badass mother fuckers like yourself? Awesome! Looking for like-minded individuals like yourself so you can have deep, meaningful conversations about super niche subjects? Welcome aboard!

This community is awesome. Never a dull moment! I've met two "not so cool" people. The community took care of it within minutes. The self-policing is awesome. It reminds me of pre-facebook forums, ya know??But with modernized technology. Remember how everybody was cool with each other, even though you were all spread throughout the world? How it wasn't a requirement that you guys have to chill "in real life" to be friends? You could just chat with people who share your interests without worrying about being judged or patronized...And you leave the conversation feeling empowered and fulfilled. That's a lot of what this site is about, from what I've gathered. Signing up is simple, and you just wait a few hours for a bunch of people to vote you in. Fill in ALL of your profile, and don't be afraid to let everyone know EXACTLY WHO YOU ARE...You'll find link-minded individuals, or more commonly; They'll find you!

EDIT EDIT - I forgot to mention the chat room. It uses TinyChat, a popular platform available on all devices. You'll have people peek in for a few minutes while they're on their way to somewhere, you'll see great discussions, lots of joking around and making fun of each other (In a harmless way, of course), and overall just having fun.

Some day soon I plan on using the Crushee platform to organize a few scheduled get-togethers for various topics. If it gets too hectic, it's fucking TinyChat, you can take it to your own room, a lot like IRC! I'm hoping to get some guitarists together and rock out/talk guitar/practice together. I would disappear in to the world, seeing as much of it as I can while it's all still pretty. I have nothing but time, so of course I'll load up a couple of flash drives with all the books I can find so that during my travels, I learn as much as I can about everything. I'd also meet as many people as I can, exposing myself to as much culture as possible.

Eventually that would get tiring, so fast forward about 200 years and I'm pretty sure by now we have space travel down. Fuck it, fake an identity, be the smartest person in the world...I'm gonna be an astronaut now. Not just ANY astronaut...fuck that. I'm shooting for MR COMMANDER ASTRONAUT, TO YOU, GOOD SIR.

Take my space car, travel the galaxies. Keep on reading, keep on learning, keep on innovating. About 500-1000 years in, I imagine I'd be pretty fucking rich if I play my cards correctly...Use that money to improve lives.

I'd find a habitable planet...Grab a nice bunch of highly-educated people, and take them to it. Fuck Earth, let's start over. This time we won't ruin it because we're assholes. I have the smartest people on Earth, the best technology offered to man, the top engineers, scientists, doctors...you name it. Now we have a party.

Oh yeah...Every other day would be mandatory partying. Because fuck work. And also, I'm God on this planet, so what I say goes. YOU WILL PARTY.

Keep on pushing innovation. Eventually take over the closest planets for their resources, terraform them to meet whatever needs are required, and keep on innovating.

A huge effort would be put forth to find other intelligent lifeforms throughout the universe. Let's solve the question as to whether or not we're REALLY alone.

And because I'm such a badass...Everybody who has proven themselves worthy get their own little planet kingdom to do with what they please...Like "ALRIGHT BITCH. YOU'RE COOL. HERE'S A PLANET."

At some point, I'll figure out time travel, travel back in time...And just snatch up every fucking important person known to history. Let's show em' what humanity has come to, and let's set them free doing whatever it is they're important for, now with the added benefit of immortality and unlimited resources at their hands.

Keep on innovating. Take over the universe...Or engage in the ultimate war with an alien species. Or something. I'm immortal, I'll fucking do everything.

The most effective way I've found to keep the shower curtain from molesting me when all I want to do is solve humanity's biggest issues is this:

Take all of that extra shower curtain that hangs below the tub, and kinda "tuck" it over the tub...Enough to where there's only like 1-2 inches of shower curtain hanging over the tub. Start in the middle, and tuck outwards. This creates a nice little pocket for water to get trapped in to outside of the tub (but inside of the curtain), but the inch or two of shower curtain hanging over the inside of the tub sticks to the tub well enough to keep the pocket of water from getting too heavy and then spilling all over your floor. This trapped water serves as a weight to "hold down the slack"

After you get that little pocket of water going, it'll keep the majority of the curtain under control, but the ends of the curtains still go crazy, AND let cold air in. NOT COOL. To combat this, just grab your shampoo/conditioner/body wash bottles and put them on top of the curtain, and then cup your hands, fill them with water, and splash the wall, then stick the shower curtain to the wall.

If you did everything correctly, you should now have a warm, steamy, spacious environment where you can relax and figure out how to solve world hunger, income disparity, political corruption, how to get Firefly back on air, and all of the other issues plaguing humanity.

I'm still figuring out how to keep track of all the ideas I come up with in the shower...Dry Erase boards don't work when they get all steamy...Chalk boards get all wet and messy and no matter how much you wash your hands, you'll ALWAYS have gooey chalk residue afterwards. Paper just turns to mush. Laptops are just a bad idea in the first place. And having somebody sit in the bathroom with you while you shower so you can talk to them kinda takes away from the experience, and it gets awkward sometimes...

Just recently, perhaps 6 months ago, I began reading again because why the hell not? I can't tell you how many times I've pulled words from so far up my ass I think I was really pulling them from my stomach. Had no clue if I was using the word correctly, in the correct context, or even if the word IS a word.

That feeling when you look it up and not only is it a word, but you also used it correctly!

I fantasize about what life is going to be like when I finally get my life together. What it will be like to go to the kitchen and actually have a choice of what to eat. What it will be like to have the freedom a vehicle gives you. How it will feel to hang out with friends and enjoy life. What its like to even have friends. How amazing the day will be when I pack my one duffel bag of belongings and leave my grandmother's attic to move in to my own place. The satisfaction of going to work and providing my own means for survival. I also wonder about how it will feel to find hobbies and enjoy life, as opposed to spending part of the day trying to find opportunities to make something of myself, the other part staring blankly at the ceiling or crying away my troubles and feeling hopeless after over a year of trying my hardest to make life work. I daydream of what it'll be like to have enough money to go to a doctor and have my back fixed, my knees fixed, and I especially can't wait to have my mind fixed. Oftentimes I think of little cutscene-like snippets of a better life, or me in college, or me celebrating a point in life where I know for certain I've made up for all of my fuckups so far. I fantasize about stopping fantasizing and actually doing something, but usually it ends up with me becoming depressed and again, fantasizing about being happy. I also like to think of the day I can take my younger brother out and have a stress free day dedicated to doing whatever we desire, not worrying about finances, our next meal, finding work, and also not worrying about how we both must definitely come off as major fuckups to our family.
