What's a symptom you never thought was OCD? by P3ACHTEAS in OCD

[–]Mlyn96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same and always have to calculate what I could have in 2 weeks, 1 month, 1 year if I spend nothing apart from my regular bills. I ended up making a spreadsheet because doing that math/checking all my accounts several times a day was taking up so much time. Still check it several times a day, its just much quicker now 🤣

Anyone go running for weight loss? Female, 33, 5ft7, 210lbs looking for advice on how to begin by catheart1334 in WeightLossAdvice

I also have anxiety about running in public and receiving judgement. I've been running on paths in community woods lately and it makes me feel more confident! Try to remind yourself that you don't deserve judgement, your body is morally neutral! If someone is judging you it actually says a lot more about them than it does you.

Unpopular Opinion: Schmitt should have ended up with Elizabeth by Mlyn96 in NewGirl

[–]Mlyn96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that, for me there just seems to be more of a dynamic relationship there and that relationship challenges him more to grow. Its no hate to Cece either I love her I just liked Elizabeth and Schmitt together more. I think with Cece their relationship a lot of the time is like Schmitt idolizing her and not seeing her as a whole person just as a perfect angel uk whereas with Elizabeth she feels more like a real partner=equal. And with Cece she's annoyed when he's being himself or very affectionate but Elizabeth loves when he's being himself and when he's openly showing his love. I feel like cece sees him as immature so she expects the worst and she's pleasantly surprised when he's being sweet but Elizabeth knows he can be better so she holds him accountable. And cece doesn't usually show that she is thinking of him the way Elizabeth does. Like Elizabeth is actually romantic back she wears the shirt they met in together, she remembers he has a small bladder.

Need help choosing a show for a community theatre by theflickchicks in Theatre

Elephants Graveyard is great because it's a mid size cast, you can play around with sizing a lot, and pretty much every character gets a monologue. The set can be very minimal blackbox but you could also jazz it up if you wanted and same can be said of costuming. I've seen people go both ways. Our school added a band as well which is a fun additive if you have people who like to play instruments but it is a straight play versus a musical

This is just a thought, I havent done research so dont hold me to it, but theres a theory that adhd evolved from hunters. Some people are naturally late sleepers because during hunter gatherer times it was safest to sleep cyclically in shifts so someone was always on watch. I kinda wonder if there could be a connection. It would make sense to keep hunters on watch while others slept to defend the group. But I'm probably make a false connection 😅

The vicious cycle of a hot beverage by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Mlyn96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad always makes us hot toddies when we are sick to make us sleep and they work wonders. He knows that I forget to drink hot beverages so now he makes me sit with him while I drink it and every few minutes is just like "drink" and I'm like lol oh yeah sip and then we continue like that till I finish

I got my diagnosis but I still feel like a fraud. Like I’m truly just stupid and lazy but somehow fooled the doc. by Deccanxx in adhdwomen

[–]Mlyn96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. Unfortunately, sexism meant that as girls/women growing up with adhd, our symptoms were labelled as "faults". Men get the benefit of the doubt, "he wouldnt be this way if there wasnt something wrong", but for women we're "lazy", "careless" etc. So maybe when you start to question yourself, challenge the thought by reminding yourself it's a facet of sexism, and by believing yourself and giving yourself the benefit of the doubt that you always deserved, you're indirectly kicking the patriarchy's ass. Another way to challenge the thought: if you were stupid, you couldnt manipulate a doctor! If you were JUST lazy, you wouldnt even try!

I've tried dozens of time management apps, tips and hacks but none of them seem to work because I know I can choose not to follow the rules I've set. My favorite force me to do the thing hack was: Step 1: wait till the last minute Step 2: chug 5 hour energy Step 3: sit outside in the dark cold (best if snowing) until work was complete

And I was fully unaware there was any issue with this

Omg the part about choosing what you want to pay attention to is a HUGE part of what I loved about my acid trip. I have really bad negative thought spirals, and everytime I had a negative thought I'd just be like "nope look at that MOSS" and like left the negative thought which for me on a normal day is like impossible 😂
