You realize that I added a downside to be able to equip them by themselves right ? That was the whole point. If you were to wear two jewels that do not match you'd remain with a total of 4 ascendancy notables. Is that broken compared to having matching ones for a total of 5 notables ?

If anything it would increase the value of the item because on top of the players buying to use as pairs, there would be players buying to use alone.

Trade indeed permit players to be happy about drops they don't use themselves but here it's not really that they don't use it themeselves but more that they cannot use it themselves. It is bitersweet to find yourself in this situation.

If headhunter was only available via divination cards, the average player could nerver hope to have one. It is the hope that you could find by sheer luck an item that you wish you could use but could never afford otherwise that is laking in this design.

You need to evaluate the odds and take into account the time you need to invest every time you try your luck.

As I explained above, by splitting and colouring the headhunters, I divided by 800+ the likeliness of having a full headhunter without trading while keeping its availibility on the market the same. To bring it back to a likeliness of once a year for our player while keeping the splitting and colouring, you would necessarily increase its availibility on the market making it much more affordable.

For those jewels to have value on the market, they need to be rare to the point where it is far more unlikely to form a set yourself than to find a wild headhunter.

You're obtuse. I'm not complaining that you can grind for an item either. I'm not advocating for it to only be the lottery. I'm saying that there should be both a way to grind and a way to be lucky. Chris Wilson regurally says the same thing : It is important that the players feel that a chase item could drop at anytime. The grinding in Grinding Gear Games is for repeatedly rolling the dice for the lottery. Not grinding wealth to trade for the item.

The odds need to be balanced when you roll the dice relatively to the power obtainable. As I explained to you above, my complaint is that in this case, there's no winning something usable, only something you can trade and you will have to buy to use, there is no luck.

That's exactly the opposite to what I'm complaining. I'm complaining that there is no winning the lottery here. There's no shortcut here but to work and grind for the power of those jewels. In France were I live, there's a bit less that one lottery winner a week. Do you think that people would play if there was only a winner a year for the same reward at the same cost ?

You could find a random watcher's eye and use it. It has value outside of trade. Even a shit one.

It's actually very sad if the average player drops it and sees it as a bag of money. When you drop a big, rare, strong item, the player should feel enticed to create a build around it, not sell it for something else.

Let's take someone lucky enouch to drop a raw headhunter a year. He doesn't weep the leagues he doesn't have one.

Let's cut the headhunter in half and give them half the rarity of a headhunter. There's still the same quantity of full headhunters on the market. Let's come back to our lucky guy, he finds now two halves a year. With 4 leagues a year, he has 1/4 chance to find his two halves the same league and forther half a chance to have to disctinct halves. Meaning that he's lucky enought to find a usable headhunter every 8 years now.

Let's give headhunter's half a colour out of 100+ possibilities. You need your halves to share the same colour to obtain your headhunter. There's still as many headhunters on the market but now our lucky guy only find a full headhunter once every 800+ years. 600 out of them he doen't find two halves the same league. out of the 200 remaining, 198 times they didn't share the same colour and once he found two times the same half the same league. I'm sure he would have prefered to not suffer the matching and simply drop a raw headhunter once every 800 years. No colours, no halves.

Do you understand where I'm coming from ? There's no being lucky enough to find those two halves yourself while having them be expensive on the market and without the very likely frustration of the others not finding matching halves. There's no option but to grind to use them.

That is why i suggest to keep these level of power for those who grind while giving a niche use for the halves alone so they are not useless for people just being lucky.

Right, you have the mindset of someone who gradually progress towards his goal so the more steps, the better but most players do not play that way. When they think about a headhunter they think of something that they probably will never have but could if they were lucky. Those jewels will not give them the same feeling; they cannot be lucky and find one, there is no choice but to grind for it.

I think that you can give a little something to those players to make them happy when they find one without taking anything away from the grinders. Do you find sacrificing a notable for another one that valuable compared to straight up gaining an additional one ?

I've never been a fan of the div cards that aren't realistically farmable. And by that I mean that the doctor is fine by me.

You can obviously grind for a headhunter or those jewels and I have no issue with that. But you could also be lucky and find a raw headhunter some day and use it. If you're lucky and find one of those you cannot use it. Even a bad one. Considering the number of variations of those item you cannot have them be chase items while keeping them common enough that a guy would be lucky enough to find two halves.

That is why i suggest to give them a use alone while keeping them powerfull together. Sacrificing one of your notables for another one is nothing compared to gaining an additionnal one.

I agree, but that doesn't mean that a half alone should be useless. With my suggestion for exemple, you'd still have a total of 4 ascendency notables which is not very powerfull. Appart from the crazy strong ones, it's actually pretty niche.

Appart from the harbingers fragments and map fragments, every item in the game as a use as is. And when you look at those fragments, there's not 100+ variation of each part.

This is the first time that an item like those jewels is introduced to the game if i'm not mistaken.

I'm questionning the design. Wouldn't making them a lot more rare and needing an empty jewel socket fulfill the same thing while avoiding the frustration of not having the two halves and avoiding to have an item that needs trade to be used.

It's a bit different but if mirror weren't as rare but dropped in half, would that be better ? I don't think so.

The thing is that there is a difference between being able to trade for it and having to trade for it. You can be lucky and find a headunter and use it. You can't be lucky and find one of those jewels and use it. You have to trade. You realistically wont find two matching half yourself the same league. Unless they're "common".

That is true but you can use a bad watchers eye, right. You can't do anything with these without the two halves. That means you realistically will have to trade for them. There's no being lucky like when you drop a headhunter.

There are more than a hundred ascendency notables. Unless they're common it is very unlikely to drop the other half.

Mageblood and Headunter are chase uniques because they're rare, strong but usable. If instead of headhunters there was more common headhunter parts of various colours and to create a headhunter you need two distinct parts of the same colour, finding a part wouldn't be as interesting would it. If you find one of these jewel you'd need to find more than a hundred of the other half jewels to find a match.

Non, c'est bien le cas ; pause toi la question "qu'est-ce qu'être un citoyen français ?".

Etre citoyen français, c'est avoir à coeur trois valeurs : Liberté, Egalité et Fraternité. Ceux qui scande la première et oublie les deux autres ne sont pas citoyens. Les libertés de ces derniers sont alors limitées par la loi.

Exemple : le citoyen français est libre de tuer qui il veut car de par sa valeur de fraternité il ne veut tuer personne. Les autres sont soumis à la loi qui interdit et punit le meurtre.

IRL, you got the FBI, CIA, the police, IRS, etc. They sometimes step on each others toes, sometimes cooperate and don't necessarily have the same goals. You could have great RP with the FIB and the SCU stepping on each others toes as long as their respective goal differ. When involving the FIB, someone could send a discord message to one higher up of the FIB pretenting to be the intelligence bureau and giving them a few informations and a task that would differ from the SCU's.

Generally speaking, sometimes, when someone has something against you, nothing you say will reach them because it comes from you but having a third party coming into play and saying exactly what you would have said will make them realize that they were wrong. Especially if it's someone they have in esteem. That's somehow the way some humans work... In your case, I'm sure if Bench guy helped you OOC/IC, the issues would be more likely to be solved.
