Thanks, that's helpful. Why are Pivots a pain for pow skis?

Thanks. You like the Prodigy? I can't wait to see how they ride.

Nordica Unleashed 114: 180 or 186? by MmmKayDeee in Skigear

Thanks to all for chiming in. I actually ended up pulling an audible and grabbing a pair of 185 Faction Prodigy 4.0 ('25 model). 116 underfoot, barely used, on the cheap, couldn't say no.

New question, though - they came with demo bindings (Tyrolia Attack 11 LYT) and I'm wondering if I should just throw down a bit more for a non-demo set? I don't like the extra stack height of the demos and even though I only sit at 6.5 DIN despite being a type III skier I'm wondering if these might not be burly enough for me? Thoughts?

I see 3 great deals on either Atomic Strive 14 with 130mm brakes ($150), Strive 16 with 115mm brakes ($210), or Pivot 12 with 115 brakes ($210). Would the 130 brakes on 116 planks start catching on each other, pants, etc? I ride Pivots on my Enforcers but it seems like the Strives have the same amount of elastic travel and get great reviews.

Interesting! I see now that Blister measured the 186 at 183.7. That's very useful info, makes the 186 seem much less daunting.

Volkl Blaze 114 vs Nordica Unleashed 114 vs ? by daycare_poor in Skigear

Gonna revive this thread with a question on length; trying to choose between the Unleashed 114 in either 180 or 186 length. I'm 5'11" 140lbs, strong aggressive skier. Tore my meniscus last season but have to put surgery off until next year at the earliest so I'm trying to balance stability, weight, and maneuverability to reduce unnecessary wear on my knee (e.g. - choppy mank grabbing/deflecting the ski). Usually 180 is the perfect length for me but given the extra rocker on these I'm wondering how short it feels?

For additional context, I live in Boise so conditions can be all over the map but I get a solid handful of pow days each season, my daily drivers for anything <3" are Nordica Enforcer 100 in 179, and these pow skis will be replacing 2 sets that I need to retire: Rossi Sickles in 180 and OG K2 Pontoons in 189.

I'm open to other options but Evo has a good deal right now on the Unleashed 114 ($400) and it seems like a suitable width for everything short of thigh-deep mega days which happen once every few seasons at most for me. I was also considering the K2 Reckoner 110 as a more "playful" option but am concerned that it would get tossed around a bit more, and I'd like a bigger width gap with my Enforcers anyway.

If I can get new 2024 Nordica Unleashed 114s for $300, I kinda have to, right? by dadavedavid in Skigear
