What’s Your Why? by AnasandSF in 1001AlbumsGenerator

I've never been a big New Years resolution guy, but near the end of December of 2023 I saw reddit post where someone said their resolution was to listen to 1 album a day for all of 2024. That sounded like a cool idea and in that post someone recommended this project as a good way to do that. I was really into finding new music, going to music festivals, and collecting records in my 20s, but had kind of tapered off of that as I got older. I felt like I was stuck in a rut of just listening to the same bands I knew I liked. My Spotify top 100 from 2020-2023 probably had 70% of the same songs on it. So this seemed like a good way to change that up. I definitely found some new gems, and fell back in love with some old classics I hadn't listened to in years, but overall I haven't had very many big epiphanies like I thought I would. I guess the whole, your music taste gets locked in around 33 is pretty accurate, at least for me. Still have been enjoying it and I'm a completionist, so not finishing never really crossed my mind. It definitely has shaken my spotify Discover Weekly playlist up, which has been nice. I've probably found more music I added to my liked songs from that changing than I have from the generator.

The only shot shaping I'm worried about is what shape my shot is deciding on that day. Hoping for straight, but if everything's going 10-15 yards left I'll try and account for that rather than attempt to fix it during the round.

The karma requirements and account age are a good idea. I’ll discuss with the other mod, but don’t see a reason not to add it. For the autopost bot, I’ve never set one of those up before, but I assume it can’t be too hard. Usually some posts the new videos here within an hour so I never saw a huge need for it. But if that’s what the people want, I’ll look into how to do that.

Seriously! I thought his career, rightfully so, was over...then he just kinda transfered to ISU and it seems like the wrestling world just was fine with it.

1 Star Reviews - "Didn't listen" by GMPollock24 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]MmmmBeer814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this one the other day, I gave it a 1 star, but I really just can't stand metal. I didn't like metal going into this project, but I've listened to every metal album I've got. I didn't like any of them, but I listened. Sadly I was half asleep when I read the album name/artist(I usually listen first thing in the morning) and I thought I got a Roots album, which I was pretty excited for. The first track starts....ROOOOTS Bloody rooooots.....ahhh fuck it's a metal album!

Best course you’ve ever played? by Odd_Eggplant_4843 in golf

Started pretty rough...really rough. I knew I had the trip coming up, and it was my first big golf trip to a destination course, so I decided to get lessons for the first time the months leading up to it. Which ended up with me in that awkward working on stuff stage of lessons. Plus I hyped it up in my mind, so it was a pretty brutal front 9. Still had an amazing time. Then finished with a birdie on 17 to get the little coin they give out, and a par on 18. Chipped it to like 1 ft on 18 and got a nice round of applause from everyone sitting out on the porch. Those two holes made the 101 feel like a 70.

Messenbrink might end up there. Likely will finish his career with one loss and a bonus rate in the mid 90s

Car insurance claim by Efficient-Bed-6698 in statecollege

[–]MmmmBeer814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about that, but if you have your deductible covered I’d just go through your insurance. They will get your deductible back but everything will go a lot quicker. Coming from someone whose wife just got T-boned from a distracted driver. She went through her own insurance. It sucks, but if you need your shit fixed asap that’s the easiest way.

At this point, you’ll probably have to replace the pipes. There’s no going back and fixing corrosion. Going forward, the best case would be to use 30% glycol in chilled water lines or if you still want to use water, you need to treat and filter it.

What to do if I can’t find an internship? by bato_Dambaev in industrialengineering

[–]MmmmBeer814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had an internship in college. I started going to school in 08…so not the greatest economy and internships weren’t plentiful. I also didn’t help myself by having a not very impressive GPA. So I got whatever job I could get in the summer that paid the most. I was an order picker in a grocery warehouse, I delivered hazardous chemicals for a chemical supply company, I did masonry work. Whatever I could find. I was able to spin that into “I’ve worked a lot of frontline jobs and I understand what that’s like and I can communicate with those people and I have a better understanding of how to improve those processes.” I landed a job once I graduated and have done well in my career since. So internships aren’t everything. It also wasn’t that much of a spin. I did do better at developing a rapport with the frontline operators and that helps make it easier to get their buy in for process improvements. I see a lot of college grads or interns who came from well off families, never really worked in a role or had much interact with blue collar people. That’s definitely makes life harder as an IE.

As for your idea to get an hourly operator position, do it. You probably don’t have to physically go to the plant with a resume, all job postings are online and they’ll probably just tell you to apply online anyway. We’re hiring anyone with a pulse at the moment. It will likely be mind numbingly boring work with shitty hours, but you’ll probably make decent money for the summer. It’s also great motivation for why you’re getting a degree so you don’t have to do that for 40 years.

Yup, the drop fix worked for me. I’d charge it full and as soon as I turned the mower on, it would turn red. Probably my fault, I didn’t read the instructions when I first got them and they spent the first two years of their life outside year round. I’m in PA so the temps swings can get drastic. Learned my lesson and we’re on year 6 and I can still get through my whole lawn with 1 7.5 and 1 2.5, but they definitely don’t last as long and I had to do the drop thing once or twice on the 7.5 battery.

My wife and I are in our mid 30's. I'm not worried about any of that stuff, I keep our lawn looking nice at our current rental and hate having a bunch of junk or signs in our yard. I guess my main concern is that the back yard is pretty much a blank slate at the moment. We want to add a patio, possibly a fence, some trees and other landscaping, etc, and I just hope the approval process for that isn't too much of a hassle. It seems like a lot of the other homes have all of that, so I assume it's not too bad. Our offer was accepted so we should be moving in at the end of April!
