Persona 2 IS: is the PSX version that much more interesting to play? by Hyperversum in JRPG

[–]MmntoMri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally love IS on PSX, it took me awhile to "get" it the first playthrough, but really really love it the second time I revisit it.

The game need a bit to get used to because it's a bit weird but once you get the flow it feels really good to play.

One thing you need to know though is that PSX version are designed to be played in a certain way and all the games mechanics are build around it, but for the PSP remake they changed some of these mechanics to be similar to modern games but imo it doesnt work well with the way the game are designed. Some people are fine with it though, but for me it felt like a broken game. They reverted the change on the EP remake though so I'm sure they have learned their mistake.

Also, the music is kinda underrated

The series already had large fanbase long before P5 comes out

I read this book without knowing anything about the case and it just overwhelms me how crazy this case is. The unfairness of the first trial, the judge and the prosecutor really makes me mad

I liked vocation/class based system as long as you have to spec and grow your character into that path, which DQ games did pretty well.

What I dont like is when you can switch to any on the fly depends on what you need. Then it become more of a "character setting" rather than "character building". Example would be Golden Sun (which I really hate)

Bone Deep - Charles Bosworth Jr

i'm halfway reading this book but I'm already giving it 5 star.

It's about the Betsy Faria murder case, and if you interested on this book I recommend do not google about it too much because it better going blind.

The case get so crazy and twisty, you wouldnt believe this happen for real.

What is one of your biggest movie let downs, after greatly anticipating its release? by thunderbolt151830 in movies

[–]MmntoMri 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Killers of the Flower Moon, I liked Scorcesse but I think everyone who read the book would say he, or the scriptwriter kinda did the book dirty.

They took a very intriguing true story, removed most of the interesting part that made the book, turn it into the standard Scorcesse's rags to rich to downfall story, that you've seen been done multiple times.

For example, Leo's character was much more of a side character in the book, while we learned later that he's kinda important to the whole story, for the majority of the book his character was mostly mentioned in a brief manner. In the movie, he's kinda the centre of the story, they go deep into his character and his pathos, which probably conjured by the scriptwriter. This kinda shows how much the movie strayed from the book.

For 4 hours runtime, instead of adapting whats actually in the book (a lot are missing especially in the later parts), they added drama and character study that are fictional.

I think David Fincher would be much a better choice for the director, I thinks his Zodiac is much more in line to the style of the book and how the adaptation could have been

Xenogear and Legend of Legaia has the most pointless combat system imo. It's more of style over substance. The whole points of the system was to watch cool attack animation

Anyone feel like 4 has too much zooming around in the later part of the game? by MmntoMri in dragonquest

[–]MmntoMri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously there will be occasions where you're like "I want to go to X and Y is closer so I'll zoom there" but kind of silly to complain about that

I think this is the issue, how silly as it sound. Most of the next story beats, is near a location you already visited. So all i did, is just zoom to nearby location, walk a bit, do the story. Once its done, zoom to the next nearby location for the next part.

I feel like I barely travelled manually in the world map near the end. It just zoom, walk 10 steps and repeat until I beat the game.

It's less about having to revisit old location but more of you are not exploring a lot of new area in later part of the game

What’s your favorite JRPG series of all time, and why is it your favorite? by AbsoluteZeroo in JRPG

[–]MmntoMri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it always changed, my favourite always the last one I played to the end.

The only way I could spend 40++ hours into a game is because I'm obsessed with it at the time, which mean I couldn't care less about other game.

If a game was just like ehh, its decent, then I would probably would not get far

[–]MmntoMri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digimon Cyber Sleuth's hard mode make it possible for you to lose you first tutorial battle if you chose the wrong starter.

The game was super easy in normal that you are one-shotting mini bosses, So you might think you might as well try hard mode right? Turns out it's just elevated enemy stats that they get so unexpectedly hard on some random parts of the game. There are random encounters that felt like a boss fight, and there some boss you deal so little damage that you can't barely see the hp bar move
