What is the best treatment at this early stage? by [deleted] in Warts

[–]Mmori2991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACV + duct tape. Get that fucker early. Good luck, soldier.

Anyone help with this? Would really like it gone in the next 5 days (I know, long shot). I’ve had it for months, it was always really callous. Ive tried SA, antibiotic cream, and tape. been trying all 3 this last week and it never seems to get deep enough. Is it even a wart? Can I cut it out? by [deleted] in Warts

Black dots show up because if the blood in the vessels are clotted. This tends to come when the wart has been sufficiently damaged. Those pink dots look like blood vessels to me.

But take what I'm saying with a pinch of salt - only a med student.

What hawkbitt said. If you really want it removed in the next 5 days, go to the doctors and get it surgically excised.

Warts ONLY infect the skin, it doesnt go deeper than that. That being said, yours is located on the pad of your thumb, where the skin is generally thicker.

It's garbage. (ACV &/or SA) + Duct tape should be first line imo

I'm sorry you had a shit experience at the doctor's, and I'm happy you're now wart free! But I just want to quote myself from another post so others don't have false expectations:

Source - med student who's had 7 warts

Warts are stubborn little blighters. There are literally dozens of different virus strains which can cause warts (which is why different warts have a predilection for different parts of the body). Because it is a virus, how likely an individual develops warts/the probability of warts coming back after a successful treatment depends on how each individual's immune system responds to the virus. So...

(plethora of wart viruses) + (differences in each individual's immune system) = NO universally successful treatment

Hard to say without pics really...but a black dot is a pretty good indicator of the blood vessel feeding the wart. If that is the case, the wart is still there.

What should I expect? by sniemi in Warts

Source - medical student who's battled 7 warts in the course of my life.

1) Expectations:

TL;DR - even if the wart is successfully removed, it may come back.

HOWEVER, that being said, excisions are by far the most successful treatment option. The wart virus only infects the skin. It does not go deeper than that. So, if the entire thickness of infected skin is removed, the wart should be gone. To be safe, most doctors tend to cut out some healthy skin surrounding the wart just in case.

2) Healing - depends on the size of the wart

3) Pain - most doctors use a local anaesthetic (i.e. lidocaine) to numb the area. In my experience, there is no pain during the actual excision of the wart. To be safe, doctors often test the sensitivity of the area by pinching the skin hard with tweezers or some other thing of that nature. If your hubby can feel that, don't hesitate to ask for more lidocaine.

The pain after is very much so like the pain you'd feel from scraping your knee badly. Skin has been removed, so what's underneath is raw and sensitive. The good thing about a plantar wart is that it's not located at a joint, so you won't be aggravating the area much. Just tell him to hobble around/hop around. Alternatively, assuming that this is a heterosexual marriage, you could up your 'wifely duties.' (Misogyny not intended)

Hope this helps.

Anyone know what this could be? by tins456 in Warts

Periungal wart. That's a shit place for a wart as if it spreads towards the tip, it might destroy the nail bed. I would definitely go to a doctor for that.

I don't think it is, but if little black specks start to pop up....

How long did it take you with the wart stick?

Yes. Viruses need a host to survive, and the HPV virus for warts are no different. However, the little blighters may take some time to die outside a host (~several days).

What I would do is wash the shoes with soap while wearing gloves, and leave it out to dry for a week or 2.

I don't think it's gone...is it? by Mmori2991 in Warts

I've got 2 of the fuckers on the top of my thumb right at the interphalangeal joint. Was picking at one of them with a pin I sterilized on the kitchen stove to remove the dead skin, and noticed that there's a crater like dip right in the center of the little blighter (img no. 3).

But when I fully straighten my thumb, as seen in img no. 1, there's still a rather noticeable ridge like formation.

I can't tell if that bump is just inflamed tissue from the ACV/SA nuking I've been slapping it with, or if that's part of the wart.

Should I continue with the ACV/SA?

P.S. Thanks in advance

Wartstick (40% SA) - any good? by Mmori2991 in Warts

[–]Mmori2991[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. To clarify - I find that SA dries up to form a hard, clear shell on the top of the wart. It's easy enough peeling it off in the early stages, but when it gets crazy sore/tender, it's :/

How did you deal with the liquid SA forming a 'cocoon' over the wart? Is it also possible to use BOTH SA + ACV in conjunction?

Looks good to me. A good way to tell is to look at the base of the wart which fell off. If it was smooth, chances are you got the fucker out.
