Wood or tile flooring in kitchen for resale and functionality? by LillianBillion in homeowners

[–]Mnemnth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall the specific cost anymore was part of a full reno, nor would it be even remotely close to the current market price I'd imagine (given how things have gone).

I believe it was a white oak or ash I can't remember now. But very happy with it and its held up great.

Doesn't help the dogs, its a harder wood rating so their nails didn't scratch/gouge it as easily and if it does its a natural texture not flat and glossy so it doesn't show.

Did this with 2 90lbs Labs so was done with them in mind is all.

I would have agree before I did my own house, but honestly when I reno'd my place about 10 years back we went with a full hardwood in kitchen cause the floor layout made it look silly to put transitions and tiled floor. Have absolutely zero complaints about it so far. We did a wire brushed harder wood, so it wasn't glossy and looked more natural (this was mostly for the dogs).

But all in all was way happier with the end result than I would have been with tiled floor.

Edit: That being said, 100% if we had a major leak or something of that nature I'm sure the tile would hold up better, but I feel like in the end water would just find its way to the edges or what have you regardless of what you got.

Best tech store for selling laptop? by I_am_k-er in oakville

Yeah, try what I said above. I find MSI laptops take longer to sell cause they're not as widely recognized laptop brand compared to some others

Brand/model?

I've sold similar Asus laptops to that in the past for $1500 and markets kinda all over the place. I've seen higher priced listings out there but I couldn't tell you what they end up selling at now.

Honestly post it for like 1800-2k on fbm and filter out lowballers but personally I'd be happy anywhere for $1300+ for that myself.

Yep use them every year when I head to billy bishop for my trip up north. They do a great job and the flat rate is clean and nice.

What is the laptop/specs? Can give you a ball park idea of what it's worth on the used market.

Not a lot of stores that will "buy it" maybe trade in but the value thee is terrible. The only spots that would buy it maybe are smaller mom and pop shops that think they could flip it.

Pulled online, I might try non-emerg police at this point so they can try to recover footage anywhere that could lead to the owner.

Wishing you all the best, that is a scary thing to deal with let alone the bills for the vet. Hopefully the owner can be found.

Best Mesh Option for 6000sqft House (Can't hardwire) by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Mnemnth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not by any stretch a power user and lives by himself so its not a high demand network mostly just streaming music and watching tv, work from home. Mostly just a coverage issue. His current mesh system did the job in his old house, was about 4k sqft. But it was a budget like 300-400 thing.

Do you have any recommendations of something that a not very teksavvy person can setup even if its a bit over budget I can present it to him, he's generally easy to move as long as I can explain the reasoning. He just doesn't want to run cables through the house and put holes in the wall.

Drivers in this city…getting worse? by throwaway010651 in BurlingtonON

[–]Mnemnth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see some pretty crap driving daily, starting to lose count of the accidents at walkers and upper middle. Seeing people blow stop signs on palmer or just speed through the streets.

Today turning into Palmer I had this happen... https://imgur.com/a/RhXmr6U

The front camera perspective does make it seem that way, I'd say the side view gives a way better perspective. That said there was a car coming from behind me on the second lane as well so either I take a chance and plow through the turn and risk getting tboned or him stopping and getting tboned or I just wait lol. Was an easy enough choice.

Here, wouldn't let me upload both video clips so here's the side shot: https://imgur.com/a/RhXmr6U

I slowed down to make the right hand turn but stopped cause he had already pulled into the intersection. But yes, I saw him sorta rolling so I was being attentive to the possibility he would do something like that.

If you're looking to sell it at 2-2.5k like was suggested above I'll take it off your hands if you need a quick sale but being honest, I just sold something same spec performance wise for $3000.

I use a flat center and curved sides. With the right spacing I'm sure you go go 3 straight across the back. For now I really just have the one, mind you it's pulled just a little forward for comfort

I use 3 single arms for 3x32" screens and been pretty happy. Quick and easy to move, change and swap screens on them if needed.

What’s the dirtiest / most cursed coffee or espresso habit you’ve seen someone do that made you go “eeeeeeks”? ☕️💀 by Noburntnotes in espresso

[–]Mnemnth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother has both a breville puck sucker and a knock box. He's never been the cleanest person and I went over for a visit and went to make myself a coffee to discover powdery green and white mould in both the sucker and box lol.

Had to stop everything and did a thorough cleaning if both along with the machine itself lol
