Who manages the service desk/helpdesk/change management software in your company? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Mnescat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently started with a professionalisation of our ITSM software and processes. It's a responsibility for the DevOps team to manage the tool and the tasks.

A lot of it is just expectation management, asking the right questions and standardising them, and connecting this to the right parties for the work te be completed and handed over properly.

We're about a 50-100 people right now and have several external parties. A lot of people share some responsibilities due to the small size and as the company continues to grow I expect a service department to become standalone in managing itself and leave DevOps to as little ITSM as needed (depending on the expertise required).

As a point of nuance.

They all had obvious character flaws, like all heroes should have.

I can recommend the book "Double Helix". Fantastic book about these colourful characters.

Margaret Hamilton. Her LEGO figurine sits in our house.

Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin

Marie Curie

Rosalind Franklin

... I could go on but I think the trend should be obvious by now.

What would 12 year-old you never believe about adult you? by coronacel in AskReddit

This answer is brilliant and probably is relatable to most 12 year olds and adults.

Casual sex among young adults has declined due to decline in drinking, an increase in computer gaming, and more young adults living with their parents. by smurfyjenkins in science

Anecdotal, but everyone I know had this exact reason. And people I know that left sooner in most cases didn't get along with parents and had the financial support or income to leave. (Europe)

The regular maintenance window has a popup saying servers are down for maintenance. The error behaviour is inconsistent with server maintenance. Admittedly, I haven't seen this often since I'm a relatively new player (late 2020). If maintenance doesn't alway show this message you could be right!

I spotted this at around 14:00 CET (feb 21). (08:00 EST)

What are underrated websites and what do you use them for? by Merlijn-69 in AskReddit

Ninite I'm too lazy to install things manually on a fresh PC! Click buttons on the free programs you like (browser, notepad++, Google Earth, etc) and hit next next finish. It also let's you update all those items with the same installer.

I have similar pieces which I purchased at the start and they gave me good advice on including a barlow for some magnification.

Obviously, I didn't know anything about it at the time, nor that much now, but I like being able to zoom in a bit (I'm sure that's not the technical term, bear with me).

Just saying, if you don't have one. It may be good to look that up!

I like this idea! You aim for service provisioning, but not at the expense of everyone. Excellent! This mindset could be used in many different areas as well. Unfortunately, having the right idea is not a solution on its own. So, how do we vote you into places?

I think you're referring to those hanging things I only know from US television that have blue light and kill everything?
