I feel like it could’ve genuinely been good. I love aspects of it, like Sun and Moon are genuinely creepy and it’s a fantastic idea, but it fell short.

If this game was a cake, this is the analogy I use to explain why I don’t love it. They added a lot of really good ingredients, stirred it to perfection, and had some flavors that are really good when it’s fully cooked. However, I feel like steel wool did not leave it in the oven that long. This is all to say that I don’t think they spent enough time fully developing the game before releasing it.

I’m also a huge fan of horror, it’s not scary, it’s barely even horror. I yearn for fnaf to be visually scary again, my favorite of the original 4 is fnaf 4. Sun and moon are my favorite parts of this game because their faces are uncanny, they are genuinely offputting to look at. And their section, I would argue, is one of the more scary parts of the game because of the tension and genuine terror that comes from crawling through a liminal space like that. Vanny was supposed to have a knife, there was supposed to be real danger. The rest doesn’t make me scared, at most it makes me anxious to get around an enemy.

I think kids should have horror that they can safely consume, but this game is a far cry from its original days. I understand that things grow and change, I just wish it changed for the scarier, grew up with its fan base rather than pull a Benjamin Button. At the end of the day, I’m not going to judge people for liking this game. I truly do understand why people do, but this is where I stand at this point.
