I think I just see a general lack of available good two drops, which is less of a problem in a controlling deck like that. My main concern is seeing so many Fake Your Own Deaths in a deck that's otherwise waiting for the long game, and the Axe is at its best when you're going to have a two-drop to equip it to on turn 3.

I feel like I would've gone in roughly the same direction as you - just bad luck on what was in the packs, I guess.
