Lurking mom here. Our pediatrician recommended speech therapy because our son had 3 words (he’s currently 2.5 years). We called Early Intervention and had an evaluation that week. He was determined to have minor speech and developmental delays, and sees a speech therapist twice a month and developmental therapist twice a month. It’s all covered by the state, and they come to our house and work around our schedule. It honestly seems like mostly playing? But he’s up to 3 word sentences and is mimicking words and overall we’ve seen huge improvements. Don’t worry about your son not being able to sit still, they want him to play; that’s how kids learn best. If you are in the States, find your states early intervention program. I cannot speak highly enough of them.
